How to sew Spiral Pencil Pouch fully lined without bindings fun zippered spiral brush tool storage

This is a super cute little spiral pouch that is much easier to make than you'd think. We're using one side of a continuous zip in this video, so you'll get to make two of them. You'll be an expert in no time.
I've used a stiff stabiliser, but you could also use Decovil, or even a light Pellon or fusible wadding.

When clipping a zipper (or any other fabric), clipping on the bias (instead of in line with the threads) helps to reduce fraying and weakness. This is from many years of custom clothing experience. 😊 When beveling seam allowances (to reduce bulk), do the beveling first and then do the clipping on the bias.

Very neat. I love that multi colour zipper. A few years back I used to stock in my shops Zip Ups which were similar to this pouch but made entirely of a continuous zip.

That's so fun! Will this work with a regular zipper? I do understand I can only make one. Geeze, that means I'm going to have to get on with putting zipper heads back on. This is much like using the Zippity Do Done zips aka Lace Zippers. You have to sew the lining and outer fabrics together, then the zip on the back of the zipper. It sounds great, but they are not that easy to work with. They also wouldn't work for this. And I was excited about adding zips and welt pockets in my lining.😅 I bet you were great in art class and in algebra/geometry class. Alas, I was only good in Art, Music, Phys. Ed, History, and made a mint typing term papers and essays at school, oh and detention 😅

Thanks Sharon. You can use a regular zip, and I think there is even a way to do it with the whole zip. I loved math, but hated art. I can't draw a straight line to save myself😁

Does your zipper tape not fray after cutting it? I was always told to never cut zipper tape. Do you use fraycheck or?

I've never had a problem with it. If in doublt, you can use fray check or melt the ends, but when it's lined, it won't be an issue😁
