This is the answer I have been looking for to help my young granddaughter to grow out her bangs. We try to clip the up but they are all lose by the end of the day. I think a cute stretchy headband will be a big help. I am also trying to add some elastic to a swimsuit for her mom and really appreciate your teaching about sewing stretchy fabric!

LOve your tutorials. If I decide to start doing this on a budget, would you suggest polyester knits from a fabric store or Walmart. All the rage now, people making twisted headbands, but they just don't look right to me. I love the way you do yours.

Hi, I have been having a fun time sewing scrunchies from remnants and cut up old clothes, to sell at small town FM. Then I saw a cool wide head band on someone and she took it off and showed me (about 10 x6 in tube or 20in before tubed) but for so long I could not vision how you made it into a tube. Just brain cells wouldn't go there. So, I googled "sewing tubular head bands" and found you and the "second inside out half way thing," and I know it's silly sounding, but what a victory! I'm so happy. Mystery solved, and I will make more of these wide bands that really hide sparse hair and roots, and so forth. Great for this windy place too. Thank you thank you! Twojays/Montana

Thanks so much for making this video! My daughter purchased a cute head band from a skate shop and loves it like crazy. She paid a little too much for it in my opinion. So I took her to the swap meet where they sell surplus fabric from LA's fashion district for only $2 a yard. We were looking for videos and the head bands you make are just like the one she purchased but with a larger bow for a "Rosie the Riviter" look. She's now well on her way to making her own head bands.

This video was awesome, thank you so much! Made a bunch of quick headbands from knits. If you have trouble sewing the opening of the tube closed (the first time, with the machine doubled up part) I think it is easier if the headband is wider. 😁

Love the idea! How cool. Would it work, meeting the short ends together first, then sewing the long ends leaving a gap for tuning? I would think it would be less of a challenge then trying to eeping those small ends together. Especially with a knit.

Hi Dana, thanks for the awesome tutorial. I just have one quick question, which is better for headbands, 2-way stretch or 4-way? Kids headbands, specifically, if it makes a difference. Thank you!
@MADEEveryday2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Andrea! I probably prefer 4 way stretch....just because it's so much stretchier in general. You can find good knits online on Amazon, fabric.com, girl charlee, and even at Joann and Hobby Lobby! Or use an old T-shirt that's really stretchy. If it has a bit of spandex in it (about 5%) it will stretch real nice.
