I love Hannah's job description! She's so cute and courageous, sewing her first quilt in front of an audience, and being vulnerable to making mistakes (which happens to everyone). So darling!

I just started closing six months ago I'm not afraid to say it I'm 56 but I have found something that can take my mind off of the day's troubles or the week's troubles whatever it maybe and really put it into this and I enjoy Donna's videos and just the way everybody's happy and I'm happy with what I'm doing even though I'm still kind of quirky on my getting my borders put on just right but watching has helped a lot so I'm getting there and I'll keep on going one foot in front of the other and the Lord of my side well thank you Donna and you have a great day and God bless you

My Grandma tought me how to make a quilt top and then she showed me how to make a quilt right after making a quilt top. Then she showed me how to tack it and hem it all in one. She didn't measure anything. She just eye balled it. That's the way I was tought how to make Quilts. . love making quilts. I enjoy making Quilts.

This was such a great series! I learned so much listening to you Donna and having you explain the printed directions as you went along. I have sewn two of your patterns and even though it is “beginner friendly”, I struggled because I am new to quilting. I would have to read the directions over and over to finally get it right. I so appreciate you taking the time to teach Hannah (and us)… she did such a great job on her first quilt. And you are a very patient and supportive teacher 😊💕💕

So glad I found your channel and web site. My sewing machine just arrived yesterday and at 54 years old I am going to start my journey into quilting. I have learned so much from this series already. I am curious about your ironing surface, what do you put on the table? Also...did Hannah finish the quilt, would have been fun to see how she finalized it with batting and the back. (Sorry if my terminology in not correct).
@FabricCafe Жыл бұрын
Hi Dawn, welcome to the community! So excited for you to start your quilting journey!! 😊 Hannah did finish the quilt and its one we actually use on the show from time to time. You are correct that we did not show the backing/batting, etc in this series. However, Hannah did make a second quilt series and we talk more about the finishing process. You can find the playlist to all of those videos here - kzbin.info/aero/PLGrocj6mKnJ8inJJvyKdDPLHch__rvOjv Good luck, Dawn!
@FabricCafe Жыл бұрын
For ironing surfaces you can keep it simple. You could use a matt, or traditional ironing board surface. When Hannah first started she would even press some of her seams on a towel 😅 You can also find matts that roll up so that its easy to store after you are through!
@dawnabbott3783 Жыл бұрын
@@FabricCafe thank you. I got one of those wool mats from Amazon, I do find the steam and heat does still absorb to the table but not a big deal. Any tips on getting out stubborn fold creases on a pack of remnants?

Just watched this video! Great job. Just wondering does it matter which direction u press the seams after u sew your rows together? And what about pressing the border seams? Thanks.
@FabricCafe2 жыл бұрын
Hi Barb! Fran prefers to press all of her seems open, but you can either press them open or to one side, whichever you prefer. For your borders you can also do either, however if you press to one side go ahead and press them towards the border do better distribute the bulk. We also have a couple videos that might be helpful regarding pressing, I'll list them below - Good luck! What if you want to make other sizes? I have leftover 6 inch blocks (focus) and I am trying to pair with smaller boxes (dark/light) and just halved the measurements making 3 inch blocks once I piece together the four block to pair to the 6 inch it’s not matching corner to corner like yours :/ what am I doing wrong?

Hi Nicole, Which pattern are you trying to make. If you want to change block size, you'll have to allow for the seams if you are piecing a block.
