I have a question for you. How do you determine wheee the hard edge at the tail ends? Based on. Quad vs twin vs length. ? Your videos are so well done and thank you so much for sharing with all of us.

im probably the worst shaper (I only made 5 boards and i pretty sure they suck) I really needed those videos, that one in particular, thanks Zack for helping!

Most people’s first dozen boards suck! That’s not excluding myself. It takes time so keep at it and you will see the progress.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and the great videos 🙌 They help a lot here in France :) Could you already tell us why you recommend to do the rails before the bottom? It feels like it's gonna cause some damage on the rails when shaping vee, belly... Thanks!!!
@zack_flores Жыл бұрын
You are right. You can’t shape v or belly after you shape rails, but you can with concave!

Hi Zack, thanks for the great explanations and detail. Really gets me fired up about shaping my first board. Makes total sense to apply concave afterwards, but how about V? Would you do that before finalising the rail, so applying the V would not mess up the rail shape / where the apex is?
@zack_flores Жыл бұрын
You are correct. Any convex needs to be put in before the rails are shaped!

I can’t focus on the shaping. All I can picture is Gerry Lopez from Conan the Barbarian. Love the new look. And I’m not trolling. I wish I could grow stache that thick.😊. Keep up the great vids.

Dude videos are amazing👌 no one explaining the process like you are, especially with the planner. Would you mind explaining where you put the weight on the planner during those passes? I got problems keeping it flat or consistent with the cut

What was your original design width? What did you wind up with? A couple of nice tricks with the combination square and matching the deck line for the opposite side. Considering who your mentor was I wouldn’t expect anything less

You’re a good teacher. Great series. I have shaped one board so far and that was over 10 years ago. My son was a one year old at the time. I put his feet in different paint and printed it to rice paper. I then laid the prints across the nose area and glassed over it. it came out pretty rad. Happy to say that board is my daily rider still😊 Watching this because I’m getting the itch to shape another one.
