Just to let you know...my little cousin loved his shark bracelet. He asked me if I could make him more and some for his best friend. He's had a really hard year health wise and we were crying seeing him so happy and smiling. He was so excited. It's funny how something so seemingly insignificant can provide a very precious happy moment for such a young little boy who is going through the battle he has waged for his life. Thank you from the most grateful family. Just wanted you to know that this really helped us bring a smile and spark to a little boy who desperately needs it. Thank you for this!!

Second, would love to see a Spider-Man pattern step by step like you did here for the shark bracelet. Your tutorial was so easy to follow and I haven’t learned how to read the alpha patterns yet. Just starting out. So thank you for your video :)

Hey I finished one shark but for my next one everything is flipped so I have to the opposite of your pattern can you give any advice to help with that? Btw I love your tutorials
@MegMakesCrafts5 жыл бұрын
Ciara Vellozzi oh yay, I’m glad you enjoy the tutorials! 😊💜 As far as flipping your next shark... I personally find it easier to read off of my first pass of a pattern, especially when flipping it. I find it easier to keep my place on but also to see where you are when you’re looking at them side by side. Otherwise, my main advice is read the pattern twice and knot it once 😂 sometimes it’s easy to get the lines mixed up when you’re reading it backwards and nobody likes undoing all those knots! Haha!

i have one question, when you add in a new string, do you have to tape it on the left side, or can you do it on the right side? i was a bit confused when you were making a forward knot when you the row was a backward knot. also it WAS when you added the black string.
@MegMakesCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Maya Papaya and Lola Co-cola you can secure your string down to whichever side is more comfortable for you! Because it was just one knot I just secured down and knotted whichever way the string wanted to cooperate most, in hind-sight it may have been easier for others to follow if I hadn’t have done that.
@maerhea925 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can help me! I am following your tutorial and your bracelet looks wider than mine and flatter than mine. I done exactly as you did taping everything down. I have 10 gray base strings, and am using yellow as my knotting color. Am i possibly just pulling my string too tight? Or done it come done to the type of string you use? I am currently using friendship string kit from hobby lobby that has a twisted pattern, and just basic embroidery floss from walmart.
@MegMakesCrafts5 жыл бұрын
Hmmm.... it could be both of those things honestly. Have you tried tying a little looser and seeing what happens?If you are tying quite tight you may be pinching some of your knots causing your image to ‘pop out’ or it could cause the actual bracelet to curve a bit. Also, I could be wrong but it sounds like you’re using craft string AND embroidery floss? If this is the case this could be making the difference in both the width and the flatness of your bracelet as well. One is likely slightly bulkier than the other which seems like a small thing but can be huge over the course of a few rows.
@maerhea925 жыл бұрын
Okay. Thank you, I'm going to try different string. Can i ask what kind or brand string you use?
@MegMakesCrafts5 жыл бұрын
I prefer to embroidery floss but some people like craft thread just be sure to use only one type in a bracelet 👍🏻
@emilycote38545 жыл бұрын
Megan Sullivan I recommend the brand DMC thread which is sold online, at craft stores and in walmart

Acadia Keizer I use a program called Filmora to edit my videos. It’s pretty basic but I’m not a super editor so it’s easy and works for me. I use photoshop for my thumbnails as I use PS for other things and already have it. You could totally use a free photo editing program like GIMP to do everything I do for my thumbnails though.

What were the measurements you used to make this? I want to make an alpha bracelet but just not sure
@MegMakesCrafts4 жыл бұрын
My base strings were an arms length which was longer than they needed to be but I was knotting with them so I wanted to be be safe. The white I think I cut the same. Black you really don’t need much as you’re only making one knot per shark with it. The pink I used nearly a whole skein if I remember correctly.

@emilyelia35865 жыл бұрын
hi i've been trying alpha bracelets and so far i've made a couple but on my most recent bracelet, half way through the bracelet the pattern/texture changed and I genuinely have no idea how or why it just happened on a random line and i didn't even start adding new strings in. I realized and tried to fix it but it didn't work and i decided to try to finish it and see what i did wrong but it never changed to the original texture. If this helps: the back looks the same as the front of the top of my bracelet. I'm using the same type of string for all of my strings and the bottom texture is just really lumpy. The top just looks so much better than the bottom and my other bracelets looked like my bottom texture and i want to figure out what i'm doing wrong for future bracelets. Sorry if that didn't make sense I don't know how to explain my problem
@MegMakesCrafts5 жыл бұрын
Well, if the back of your bracelet looks the same as the front of the top of your bracelet AND the texture has changed... it sounds to me as if you may be knotting ‘upside down’. Without pictures I can only guess, but it sounds like something I used to do when I started. I made all my knots as forward knots which would cause anything that’s supposed to be a backwards knot to be upside down, making half of my bracelet a different look and texture. This sounds like you may be switching part way through, perhaps mixing the knot types and effectively knotting ‘upside down’. If that is the case it becomes a preference thing, some people just knot like that and don’t consider it upside down at all!
@emilyelia35865 жыл бұрын

@MegMakesCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Squid 29 it sure is! You just anchor down your string (tape it to the table) and push the old string out and carry on with the new one! I would suggest if you’re able to, to try and do it at least one or two knots before an edge so the ridges on the side don’t get interrupted 😉

@MegMakesCrafts5 жыл бұрын
This particular time around I did straight cut strings. You could, of course, fold your strings if you wanted a loop to start! If you are just starting alpha patterns though, I would recommend trying to keep your strings as flat as possible off the hop to help keep your lines straight!
