where im from most people believe you cant fish sharks on a really low budget got to get cable blablabla... and im of the oppinion that if it could be done on bamboo rods i can do it too , awesome vid very informative id just like to know what is the max drag rating of the reel you use with this trace?

if you were targeting smaller sharks say 7ft and shorter with 65lb braid would you still want a mono shock leader also or just tie braid straight to the cable swivel? and what size hook 9/0 or 10/0 or 12/0

I was also wondering about the weight. it looks like your doing a video on that already so im looking forward to that. Hopefully itll cover the break away method you use. Iv thought about doing that but have never wanted to carry several bricks down to the beach with me. Besides the weight video I think it would help if you did one on how you normally get your bait. I obviously prefer to get fresh bait off my bait rod and kayak that out but most of the time it can take a while before i get a good bait to yak out. How do you get your bait when your in an area that doesn't have a local tackle shop that sells big baits and your having trouble catching stuff on your bait rod?

Victor I use 300-650lb coated cable 7m long and I never get it bitten through if I double up 2ft at the hook and 10inches at a 350-600lb ball bearing swivel

Do you never had kinking breaks with the Wire? That is the reason why I like cable, another idea would be 1x7 wire, won't het chewed like 7x7 but is still much mor kinking resistant, I'd use something between 800 and 1000lb, but I really put the heat on fish, when I'm in a harness, the only thing that limit my drag is that I don't get pulled in.

How do you cast out 8' of wire from the beach? Plus a mono leader? Unless you are yakking the bait out?
@toddsmith3222
@toddsmith3222 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for answering so quickly... I guess the final question is what shark rig for casting would you recommend?
@LandsharkOutdoors
@LandsharkOutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
Depends on the surf but 6-10oz pyramid sinker, with a bottom rig. The leader will consist of 100b mono about 2ft tied to a swivel tied to 2ft of #10 American Fishing wire, tied to hook of your choice. I like Circle hooks for sharks, make sure whatever hook you get is sharp and 2x or 4x strong. No light wire nonsense. Also I would fish 8/0 or 10/0 as far as hook size is concerned.

I got a decent crimper for $20. For sharks I catch in the surf with a casting rig, 7x7, 275 lb is fine. I will have to try this solid wire sometime.

I was wondering about the weight portion, but saw in a comment you are going to add that in a future video, so I will keep an eye out for that. I may try this wire method in the future. Ive bought the pre made rigs before with the cable, but this seems like an easy method to make my own cheaper than the pre made cable ones.

Did you ever add a video to cover the weight section of this LBSF rig? I love this idea instead of the crimping method because there seems to be so much crap on that other style...this looks quicker, easier and cheaper but need to see how the weights are added...LOL? Did I miss it?

For casting I would do 11-12ft. Bass pro sells an Ocean Master surf rod for pretty cheap. Idk what your budget is? Check out the Fin- Nor offshore series for spinning reels, they are beefy and hold a lot of line and will last you. Don't go smaller than a 10,000 sized spinning reel, with 50-65lb braid.

Landshark Fishing i live in michigan and plan on using my shark poles (penn: 2-14/'s, a 12/, 2-9/'s, a 6/ and 2-4/'s, just bought all this shit, spent a ton) twice a year. So, as far as mono goes, the flaws are visual usually? Once again, you guys are looked at by many as professionals so i always come to you guys for advice. I have line on a couple poles that looks good but im not sure if it is old or weak. i think its good to go but i would hate to get out there and have that monster of a lifetime on and have my equipment fail me.(again) do you guys change your line every so many shark or do you wait until its frayed and scratched up? i would rather take a pro's advice versus trial and error, as i cant afford it because my time monster fishing is sadly limited. so?
@LandsharkOutdoors
@LandsharkOutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
I honestly couldn't diagnose the line unless I saw it personally. Heres a way you can test it out. Cut off like an 8ft section and tie it to something sturdy like a trailer hitch and out some gloves on and start pulling. If your line doesn't snap you should be good.

Landshark Fishing why do you want to use a smaller hook?
@LandsharkOutdoors

Thinner wire gauge generally results in better hookup ratios as it penetrates a fish's mouth easier than a heavier wire gauge hook.

why such a long leader? isnt three feet enough?
@LandsharkOutdoors
@LandsharkOutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
If your on a boat, it might be, but on the beach it's a different story. There is a lot more time for the line to go slack on the beach, then on the boat and a greater chance of getting cut off.
