one thing I have experienced with bridling is that sometimes the line you use to bridle get's bitten through with hardly any tention, meanin' you lost your bait and the fish is gone. I fixed that by usin 7x7(49 strand) or 7x19(133 strand) cable in diameters still soft enough for the whole process, with the 7x19 you can go a bit heavier cause it's softer, which is good, cause the thicker your bridle material, the less it cut's through your bait and ripps out. of course this 0.4-0.8mm cable would get bitten through by sharks, but only under tension, I've never seen it get bitten through like i had it with mono and braid when bridlin'

This is amazing, hooking my bait is the one problem I’ve always had for LBSF and now you just solved it for me. You’re a legend

The way the bait was connected to the hook was excellent. I'm going to start baiting my hooks for all my monster size fish that way....I'm always learning some new great fishing information from you...

Rarely, but it happens...when you don't bridle.. a big bait can stay on and slide up the line while fighting the shark. Another shark comes in and grabs the bait cutting your mono shock leader or main line.

What kayak do you use for bait deployment? I want to get one that is cheap but will still get the job done. Any recommendations? I am 5 ft 8 and 160 lbs
@Bubbles_897 жыл бұрын
andrew ko I suggest something around the 10 foot range. it make turning easier when dealing with surf, also depending on how far out you intend to paddle I would suggest something with a sleeker hull to cut through the water a little faster with less effort

It depends on the surf you deal with. The cheap closed shit from walmart or sams will capsize in a few seconds here. Best thing to do is go to a kayak store, and if they have the pool out back try some of the sit on kayaks out.
@andrewko44177 жыл бұрын
i bought me an emotion spitfire 9 kayak. it was on clearance at cabela's haha. It is suprisingly stable for something not much better than a walmart kayak.

Great info. I understand better why to use bridle. What I don't understand is it almost every situation you seem to way too much bait. Why do you use so much bait not only in bridle situations but also in situations like deep drop? Why isn't 1 or 2 mouthfuls enough?
@johnnycortez464 жыл бұрын
U think a zip tie would be a bad idea?
@LandsharkOutdoors7 жыл бұрын
To Bridle or Not to bridle that is the question? Yay or nay?
@Bubbles_897 жыл бұрын
Landshark Fishing I'd say yay. the logic behind it is sound. however, I do suggest wrapping the hook with electrical tape from right behind the barb all the way to the eye. the shark is more like to drop a BAIT when it feels the clank of metal on its teeth. wrapping the hook in electrical tape makes the hook feel more like bone than metal. try (lightly) biting a hook with and without electrical tape yourself and see what I mean
@tpandw47537 жыл бұрын
Good tip thanks .....makes sense as metal would be foreign to most sharks I would think.
@dylanwier53977 жыл бұрын
yes bridle but dont use braid because your hook can still move around and double back into the bait, use 25 pound copper wire, run a strand or 2 through the bait, give it 2 or 3 twist tight on the bait then put your hook on top of the wraps and twist 2 or 3 times on the hook then tighten with pliers. This will bridle your bait and hold your hook stationary. Then if u dont put the wire too deep, it will rip out on hookset.

Victor, One of the many benefits of bridling baits is that you can step down the size of the hooks that you use since you no longer need to go through the bait. Check out UltimateBaitBridle.com. If you want any, I would be happy to send you some to try out. Dean
