Hi steele829, please don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds as if you have the chain on backwards. Your comment reminded me of when I did it. In a hurry, I just chucked the replacement chain on & proceeded to burn my way through the wood, hopeless. Just like you, the chain was spinning & making so much smoke, then came the lightbulb moment! Take a look at which way your chain is on, which way the chainsaw rotates & most importantly, which way the actual cutting teeth face, it's a super simple tip, but so easy to get wrong. Cheers

that's side play; either the rails are splayed out, or the chain is the wrong gauge.

how did you determine 30 degrees sharpen angle?
@Tuin-toolsNl11 жыл бұрын
You just follow the marking on the file guide. Without the file guide you need experience or a chain with a 30 degrees marking line.

This can be a good opportunity to practise your sharpening skills on this saw chain.

You don’t have to count your strokes! So if you hit a rock your telling me your still going to count your strokes!
@solarr51433 жыл бұрын
You count your strokes so your saw cuts in a straight angle, having uneven teeth can make your saw cut in a banana shape, not fun lol
@jerrbear70482 жыл бұрын
@@solarr5143 The teeth don't need to be the same length at all as long as the depth gauge in front of it's cutter tooth is taken down to the correct height for that particular tooth. They all can be at different lengths throughout the entire chain. No need to count the strokes
@texp872 жыл бұрын
You do that so the teeth are sharpened evenly. Sharpen unevenly and you will notice it in how.it cuts. So you seriously are a tree service with that kind of statement. That statement says a lot about your know how.
@jerrbear70482 жыл бұрын
@@texp87 The teeth can be of all different lengths on both sides as long as the teeth are sharpened properly and the depth gauges are taken down in accordance with the tooth in front of it

Beginner wood cutters use that tool to get motor tickets, but you're used to it, you don't even need that tool
