we use 125 grain Thunderhead. Been using these since I started hunting. They have never failed me. I have shot clean through leg bones. I love them. I have tried other broadheads and had a lot of the blades break off going through the deer. I have had mechanicals not open. The cheaper the broadhead, the weaker they are. My sister and her husband use mechanical but got away from them when a lot of them failed to open. Whatever works for people is great.

99% of broadheads out of the package need sharpening!

What are you shooting? I do not have this problem with either Tooth of the Arrow, any WASP broadheads or Thunderheads I've used. Your statement isn't not factual. There are, however, some companies who broadheads are not shaving shark out of the package, but I have not found that to be the case with any of the above mentioned Broadhead I use

Came here to say this! While some are fairly sharp almost all except for a select few can be drastically improved upon. The qad is a prime example. It’s pretty decent out of the box but with a little bit of work is far superior

I use the gfs to touch up my qad exodus broadhead replaceable blades, works good for me. Allows me to test every head and touch up before hunting.

First hunting season here! I had Rage Crossbow NC Hypodermic broadheads on my Crossbow with a total arrow weight of 479 grains at the beginning of the season. Shot at 2 does 15-25 yards. Both broadheads opened up in flight and caused me to miss. Swapped them out for Montec G5 broadheads. Next deer to come into range, shot at the heart, went straight through and dug itself into the dirt 15 yards past. Perfect heart shot. Same shot I missed with the Rage. Now, I have a compound bow with Magnus Single Bevels and a total arrow weight of 605 grains. Crazy how much I’ve learned in 2 months. I’ll never go mechanical again. Too inconsistent.

as a lifelong shooter of single bevel broadheads, I would never suggest angling the stone so the edge is the only ground portion of the bevel. ALWAYS grind the entire bevel angle and keep the flat side flat, DON'T angle it to knock off the burr ! you can get single bevel heads as sharp or even sharper than replaceable blades. Just my humble opinion and experience.

Creating a small back-bevel is common on all sorts of single-bevel knives and tools.

2 blade on wood shafts pretty much.. Have expanding blades that I haven't shot yet , need to be cut to 29 inchs. Crossbow , anything 150 grain. I realy like a heavy-duty 3 blade... Thanks

😂 if you hit right behind the crease and low enough to drain out I think you could be good for a 1 and done. As long as it's sharp of course. Just garbage material so it won't last past 1 deer would be my guess. Stay away from the shoulder!!!
