WARNING!! Do NOT use a grinding wheel. Use a flapper wheel. Grinding wheels can explode and injur you. Always wear glasses when sharpening tools. Thanks.

Just used a 80 Grit flap disc on my Kobalt 24 cordless angle grinder to sharpen blades on the Kobalt 24v hedge trimmer - this work great !! Easy passes touches it up in 15 mins. sprayed silicone and they don't chatter from the nicks anymore. Great help mate !! PS found that when the edges angles away from you, then you see behind the blade and easily swipe the flap disk over the edges and cleans & sharpens them right up.

I do my own sharpening / maintenance at home, but I'm very meticulous about maintaining my tools at home so that I don't have to worry about issues on the job or tools not working when I need them most.... , but that's just the way I roll . I take my shears apart, clean them, and use a Dremel with grinder wheel in a vise to sharpen, which takes more time, but gives finite razor sharp edges. I've definitely noticed You have to be very careful to not overheat the metal or it will change it's molecular structure and make it bridle. I've also noticed doing it this way the edge stays sharp for significantly longer Unless I hit something like metal accidentally. Good video man 👌

A battery grinder can be kept in the rig. I just got a Milwaukee I may use. The hand file is slow, but effective. Thanks for highlighting to not sharpen the blades where they rub together (ruins it). Also, be sure to grease gearbox every 20 hours or to spec, a small amount, not till pushes out.

Great video thank you! I figured someone out there must sharpen them. One place wants $45 or something to take them apart and Sharpen them, while the dealer says everyone just gets new blades. Definitely trying this
@VladTheImpalerTepesIII
@VladTheImpalerTepesIII 5 жыл бұрын
Getting new blades is far more economical than paying someone to sharpen them. You have to DIY until they get so bad they cannot be sharpened anymore, then buy a new blade. Only way to fly with these trimmers.

Dude when you put the grinder down on the stone patio u need to put the grinder upside down so you dont accidentally leave grinding marks on the customers patio.

the guard on it sits lower than the disc itself. with the weight of the motor and cord it would never tip forward so the wheel could never touch the ground

I've always used a pneumatic air die grinder. Small enough to get in the hedge trimmer blades. I, like a lot of other people, am afraid to use my 4" grinder on such a small surface area.
