Buy two files one really fine one coarse the fine one for the hedge trimmer blades, the coarse one for mower blades and all the silly blades that fit the weed eater.

I hear a lot of guys use Fluid Film to lubricate and protect the blades once the blades are sharpened. It also prevents against rust and keeps the blades moving like butter, curious to know your thoughts regarding that? Enjoyed the video.

Took my older trimmer in to be sharpened took a month for them to tell me they would have to take the whole thing apart in order to sharpen the blades because they would have to be cleaned with a Dremel and should me how and why it would be difficult with the electric... ( True Value) hedger It would be about 45-60 dollars and I should invest in a new one. I said "I like this one because it actually locks on making it easier for me to move around and easier on my hands". I also said well have a Dremel so I guess I'll do it myself. YOUR VIDEO WAS REALLY HELPFUL! I LIKE THE SOFT MUSIC IN THE BACK AND GET RIGHT INTO IT STYLE. I followed you for more helpful ideas THANK YOU ! I purchased a small cordless rotary tool one like you suggested though because, well it just made sense keep up the good work!@

I take them off machine and use Simple Green to clean them first. Then I use a small air driven belt sander to sharpen, reasemble and lubricate. That way I get the resins out that builds up in between the blades.

I normally have a couple of days throughout the year where I get a few beers and sharpen and clean everything, quality tools dull very slowly no matter what abuse you put them through. I use nothing but Husqvarna and Stihl! A clean every now and then is all that is necessary! Winter gives you ample time to strip them down for deep maintenance and make them ready for the year to come!

I was looking for something related to sharpening hedge trimmer blades. Hi, I'm Neill and I'm "noth" of you in upstate South Carolina. Worked for awhile in Savannah back in my working days (I'm retired and LOVE IT). I couldn't believe you have the exact Dremel Lite that I bought from HD a few weeks ago. I bought a Dremel Chain Saw Sharpening Attachment Kit from Amazon. It shows how to use one of the attachments for sharpening a Chain Saw in the Owners Manual, but nothing on how to use the kit for sharpening Hedge Trimmer Blades. I called Dremel and they said to look it up on the Internet. BLAH! Can you help? I used your method, but not sure I'm doing it at the right "angle". Hence, why I bought the Kit. I have RYOBI battery operated hedge trimmers.😎
