I had been watching another KZbinrs video when this advert popped up. It caught my attention so I decided to watch it all the way through, I just wanted to say that this is a well-presented and thought out Advertisement/Demonstration of the product you are presenting. As a former D-Day prepper I find this sort of content both enjoyable and informative. I know I'm 3 months late on watching this video, but I would still like to say thank you and to let you know that I have Subscribed and I look forward to seeing more of content in the future

My GFS ceramic rod is quite smooth by now, i used it a lot and cleaned it with a rust eraser. Is it supposed to wear to an almost glass smooth surface?
@WorkSharpOutdoor3 жыл бұрын
Over extended use the ceramic can tend to get finer and finer, especially if sharpening predominantly super steel blades. It should level off once it achieves that 'glass like finish'. This does not negatively affect sharpening, and can improve the sharpness when honing. If you prefer the rougher finish from when it was new (toothier edge) you can buy a replacement from our website. Otherwise be proud of all your successful sharpenings and enjoy the keen edge that smooth ceramic rod provides!

A quick follow up note to this. The ceramic rods are not available for purchase on our website but we do offer replacements through our customer service team. Contact them through our website if you would like a replacement.

I have katana that came with pre edge, its basically like hitting you with blunt object, but you can see the little bit of start of a edge that could be sharpened. Can i only sharpen knifes that were already in good shape with this device, or can i take something like that katana which has no edge or some random knife i have that havent been ever sharpened and i would get such as good results ?

What is that fixed blade with the tan leather sheath? Fourth from the right.

Why do you push into the blade rather than away? What are the pros and cons of both?

Hi a silly question as i am not experienced. I have gerber armstrong. Can i sharp it with this sharpener? I mean 25°degrees is ok for the armstrong? Many thanks in advance

Wish WS could have a dedicated page where one could make design suggestions to the sharpeners.

I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm kzbin.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

Would’ve been nice to have seen how they also sharpen a 9”-10” blade. Whilst outdoors, whether hunting or bushcrafting, I carry a 3.7” fixed blade, a 5” folder and a 9.5” fixed blade with my GFS.

Thanks for the suggestion! Keep an eye out we may just have to cover that in a future video.

@@WorkSharpOutdoor that will be awesome. Keep in mind my work tuff gear kaviaz is 9.5” long recurve blade is 0.23” thick. My tops 3.5” bob fieldcraft is 4.75” thick. My cold steel voyager tanto xl plain edge is 5-1/2” long and 0.6” thick. And my next knife is a work tuff gear puzon bowie. Thus I would like to know if the precision can accommodate all these knives. I already have a WS GFS and KTS model 1. So I am a fan. Thanks for the reply.

Why not 17 degrees and putting a micro edge on it when touching it up? Much faster and better performance while its also less inaccurat and way easier if u dont have a true 20/20 edge.
@WorkSharpOutdoor3 жыл бұрын
Great idea - a few of us do this quite intentionally. Steve says use an angle that works with your field sharpener.... 17 works with a 20 degree touch up. Customize your knife to your liking!
