I have the same grinder, it needs some mods/work to be good IMO. The chain vice isnt holding the chain tight but it's an easy fix. Take the outer rail off the vice, flip it over and get rid of the thinner of the two washers between the rails, it comes set up for super thick harvester chain not normal chain. This will let it clamp much tighter so the cutter doesnt move while you're grinding it. The grinding wheel wobbles, this one is annoying to fix. Take the wheel holder off the motor shaft and spin it to a position where the wheel wobbles less and try turning the wheel on the holder too. This takes a few tries, mark it when you get it to wobble less so it's easy to line up when changing wheels.

Never tried removing the rails to improve the grip. I usually don't even use the vise clamp feature and keep the chain tight with my left hand. Had to use it since I was filming one handed. But I will certainly try that Thank you! For the wheel, fully agree and good eye! The machine is new out of the box and I haven't tinkered and tuned it yet. Good advice all around!
