How to Sharpen Your Gravers Like a Pro

In this video, I show you how I sharpen my gravers by hand. This is the method I learned in my jewelry making class 20 years ago and I still use it today. It may not be the fastest or the easiest way, but it works for me. However, if you do a lot of engraving, you might want to invest in an electric sharpening wheel that can save you time and effort. What course grit stone do you use and also the grit of the fine stone. If one doesn’t have sharpening stone oil , what is the alternative? Thanks for the informative video!

Thanks for the question! You need 320, 400 and 1000 grit sharpening stones. Arkansas sharpening stone comes in soft and hard. Soft one is about 1200 grit and hard one is 1500 grit (so just having the soft one is ok). You may use any oil for tools, it is not a special oil for the stones.
