Very nice demonstration. Would have liked to see the bit used at the end to show how it performs next to your standard brad point ;)

Well done. I like your explanation and the care you take in giving reasons why you choose this process. When I sharpen a bit I use a drill bit gage to verify that the point is centered. A small square works to give a measured reference too. Thanks.

Thank you Sir, this 5 mins tutorial is priceless and stay with me for the rest of my life . I now have any size brad point bit on demand any time.

Great trick, I'll have to try this. Easier than asking the boss to order me a set, and I can custom make big ones out of messed up big bits too... For when the paddle, forstner, or auger aren't appropriate.

very well done, thanks

This is certainly worth a try because looking at Lee Valley's site, the Triumph Twists Bits (which are not cheap and nasty) are at least half the price of the LV Brad Point Bits.

Thanks for the idea Michael. Can you please provide details on the grinding wheel you are using?

Really cool technique. Would have never come up with this on my own. Thanks!

I'm sure that after some practice it's possible to re-profile a bit that will cut a clean hole but good brad points aren't hard to find.

Harbor freight sells brad point drill bits for around $20. You get like around 35 I think.

Nice info but I just use my Drill Doctor.

Are you sure Dan? No consumer Drill Doctor can sharpen twist bits to the shape of what was shown in the video.

Hilton Ralphs I guess I'm just lazy...plus my hands shake too much.
