My Friends of Sweet Project Cars, we are starting a project series on a car that we received in not too long ago. This series should load your memory banks up big time, to either help you or maybe someone you know some fine day. This particular video truly tested our tenacity. Now, we love a good challenge, but not one like this LOL! We stayed diligent and pulled every trick we had out of our bag to pull this one off. We think you will enjoy it.

Sweet Project Cars I use a compound on my trunk and roof yesterday evening, well last night the shine looked GREAT, but I wake up this morning and take a look at the awesome work I did and I notice that there are crazy amounts of hazing and swirl marks through out both sections of the car. How do I get rid of that?
@SweetProjectCars6 жыл бұрын
Kenjie Gray 1st did you use the EXACT tools and compounds we did in the video?
@kenjiegray6 жыл бұрын
Sweet Project Cars tools yes, but l only used the meguires compound and didnt come back and use the polish to remove the haze after I used the compound

Sweet Project Cars where in Michigan are you at ? Close to macomb county?
@rachaelmorrow66696 жыл бұрын
1 The compound residue needs to be cleaned off w/ rubbing alcohol. 2 Always polish after compounding. 3 Clean off the polish residue with rubbing alcohol. 4 Then wax it or seal it or ceramic coat it.

With clear-coat in that state, a clay bar then gentle wet sand with 3,000 grit would be my go to first step, then go straight to the Turtle (or other) compound. Good video to inspire people on what can be done.

simon for us when the paint is this bad clay bar is not needed, now if the paint is already decent then clay bar is good....thanks for sharing

Remember, this type of restoration is possible because it is a single stage paint. If this is a clear coat type paint job, it could likely not be restored because the clear coat would have faded, oxidized, and flake.

@eppyz5 жыл бұрын
As long as you put a quality wax/sealant on your truck ever 3 months or so your good. Ceramic Coatings are way over rated for durability. I'm lucky to get a year out of them where i live. Ceramic Coatings take so much prep work to get right and it's a PITA. Much easier just to clay bar your vehicle 2x's a year and apply a good sealant like DuraGloss 105 at the beginning of every season and your golden 👍

Can you do this with no clear coat??

The results speak for themselves but man, you did it with aluminum polish and literally the cheapest worst compound money can buy.. very impressive. You make it look so simple and easy. Thanks for taking the time, big fan! Have you tried the Meguiars Ultimate Compound? About the same price as Turtle Wax, available in stores and it is vastly superior in every way. Less sling, longer work time, less dust, better cut. At least that was my experience when I used to use them both when I first started detailing. But I'm using a DA 90% of the time. Is there some reason you prefer it over others besides price?
@SweetProjectCars5 жыл бұрын

Best channel on here. I just wanted to stop in and say thank you bud. My family is littered with health problems. We were up and out at 3 AM yesterday to hit the road for yet another horrible surgery on my daughter. As I was crusing down the highways, it brought me a lot of comfort having my windshield clean and repellant because of your orange concoction as I call it. Smooth as butter, soaked 303 wiper blades gliding effortlessly across the humid, bug ridden WS. My door window gliding up and down butter smooth because I clean all my windows with your stuff and also lubed the tracks of the window. it's the little things. You Brought joy to my life and some small smiles on a day that is just hell having to watch my daughter be butchered up once again. Thanx Brother.

Why not use a clay bar first. Heavy cut compound, then a medium compound and end it with a polish? I was taught that way with a product called orbit. Great stuff but as far as the alcohol, I think washing it off thoroughly will prevent the 99percent from eating anything you're adding on after. I figured just micro towel wiping it off will leave some residue that could be active or mix with the coating and dissolve it. I know you are a professional so please correct me! Also why not use a heavy wool cut pad first instead of after? PREACH TO ME 🙌..Please

I've never tried ceramic coating before nor have read any instructions on how to use it. I'm curious as to why not let it continue to dry versus wiping it off when it is tacky. (To me it seems like more work) And also, why not use the buffer to take it off or shine it up? Can't wait to see what you do with those wheels. Have a good day sir. And thank you for sharing your tips and tricks... And Mother will be okay... some mom's like a spanking anyway.. 😉

Hello Norm first you will love the wheel video when it comes out it is mine blowing also as far as the ceramic coating it bonds to the clearcoat and the excess must be wiped off as the clearcoat can only except so much of the ceramic coating it is a little bit more work but if you see our other videos on ceramic coating it is a pretty impressive product. Have a great night my friend

Sir, you are an artist! Thank you for a great, informative video! I have a 1987 Mercedes 560SL, and just about, every time I take it out for a spin, someone compliments me , and asks to buy it. It's suprising what you can accomplish, with a little effort.

Dr. Ruth ain’t got nothing on you guys. After watching your videos I got motivated and broke out my Milwaukee buffer from 1991. Got the paint on my 18 year old explorer looking brand new. Took the heat gun and got all the plastic looking new again. Did the glass and headlights like you suggested. Now the wife thinks I’m the man. Thank you for the great videos!!!

Omg I need your help sir! Some idiot compounded the hell out of my car and aged it backwards! He even compounded over the chrome hardware and emblem scratching it. It’s dust magnet, it has scratches, swirls, I think marring too, I can now see rock chips on the hood, he pulled out stress lines in the paints bumper that wasn’t there beforehand and did I mention it’s a dust magnet! Omg is so dusty now. Im hoping he didn’t remove all the clear coat or something 😞It used to be black and beautiful with high shine because I took care of it, but now it’s a dusty dull mess. Please tell me what you think I should do.😩

Well, I would find a highly professional shop and have it repaired, it's too much for a DIYer, then I would send the bill to whoever ruined your car. Sorry about your troubles, that blows. Thank you for watching and asking. Good luck. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Amazing video. I bought 2 things of the mag polish from mothers. Have a 93 jeep wrangler sahara hunter green that have spots of light and heavy oxidation. Besides using this on those areas, can I use this on non oxidized paint? I will also buffer with compound and a 2 step polish after. Thanks!

Thank you very much glad we could help you you can also use it on an oxidized paint for amazing results thanks Mike

Nice work but a couple ?'s. Did you check the thickness of the paint either before or after the buffing. I'm curious how much clearcoat was removed or is left just in case the paint needs to be buffed again in the future. Also why not do a final polish to really bring back the shine before you apply the ceramic coating.

white toast when the clear coat is as bad as this and ready for a repaint we don't measure anything as the owner was set to repaint and we told him we would like to see what magic we can do in it...he was blown away how well his 26-year-old paint looked when we were done. saved him 1000's in a new paint job and was happy to have the shine he had for much much less.

I have a few deep scratches from parking lot carts someone rubbed my Audi Q7. They are whitish and my paint is midnight blue. Do I need a touch up pen? Or can buffing help?

I have no vehicle shelter whatsoever. I would be doing this completely outdoors. What final product would you recommend as an alternative to Ceramic Coating?
@SweetProjectCars Жыл бұрын
There's nothing that compares to goo.gl/z9TrgR Mark, use these 2 products amzn.to/43V9bpt & amzn.to/3Ouq8l4 together over the next 5 to 10 washings and they will build up layers, it's the only thing we would substitute. Sorry for the delayed response, hope this helps. Have a great weekend. mad Mike
