Having made a horror short myself with some friends I found this so interesting to watch. We did a longer movie - about 11 minutes for a Halloween occasion (with an intro and outro) making it about 13 minutes with ad-libbed dialog and two cameras (one a camcorder and one a mobile phone). We shot quite a bit in good light and evening and some at night - this last we used lights on phones for. Your sound design was excellent and I think that really adds to the final outcome. Congratulations

Great job. Exactly how I've done some projects. Yes, unless the camera has some built in stabilization, use a stabilizer (I use the same style, no gimble) for shots, unless you can lean against something, like a tree, and just do some simple panning. Great use of light, shooting in the dark direction first, then shooting in the sunset direction when it gets darker. I was thinking the exact same thing when you were talking about how short the time is you have available light-wise. I love how simple this project is, yet so effective in story telling.

such an amazing short film! love the pacing from start to finish! it's incredible how you managed to use such a budget camera and made it look so much better. anyways i have one question, what color profile did you use for this film? your adjusted neutral flat profile or did you use cinestyle to get more dynamic range? i noticed with the canon m50 using cinestyle brings so much noise to the shadows. really love the way cinestyle looks but i dont know if i can deal with the noise, any advice? thank you for being inspiring! 🔥

Great! Didn't even think that you spent 5 days shooting this! I know how challenging is to film with the Canon M50 outdoors. And it really scares me🥺🥺 so I keep most of the my short film locations indoors and I'm good to go! Changing light and this tiny little camera is a real challenge. But it's also fun! Thought that ladder and window were a part of your little production design. Now I need answers. Why is it there? And for how long?🤯🤯 That could be a real rabbit hole! Who knows🙃...😅😅 Anyway, again an awesome video! Inspired!

Looking for advice. I'm trying to film a solo horror movie only because I have no actors. I plan on shooting in the forest during the day with a type of witch doctor killer. I have 2 phone cameras, one on a small tripod and the other on a 3-axle gimbal. I could tint the entire movie in black and white but then I would loose the color of the trees. Using Premiere Pro to edit everything together, do you have any color grading secrets?
