Recently I was on the San Juan Island at Friday Harbor in Washington and I had the chance to test out the built in time lapse feature on the Panasonic G85. Here is a tutorial and some tips on how to shoot a time lapse with the Panasonic G85/G80. Since this camera is very similar to the Panasonic G7, this timelapse tutorial also applies to the Panasonic G7.
Gear I used to shoot these time lapses:

Multi-purpose Lens: amzn.to/2F6tqFt
Bendable Tripod: amzn.to/2rzWVho
ND Filter: amzn.to/2F44oa7

Why do you build the video in FCPX when the G85 does it all for you? BTW thanks for the time making the video :-)

Do you know if there is any way to turn of the viewfinder during time-lapse? I have the touch panel off but I noticed the viewfinder is always on. I want to try this during camping and I must save the battery as much as possible.

My battery went low and camera switched off during timelaps. Now all I have are pictures but it doesn't ask me to make video out of it. Can I still make this video? How?

I want to do a timelapse of a theatre set being built with a picture being taken every five minutes. When I try to do this my G80 switches itself off. Battery is full. Any idea why that might be?

It seems like you haven't updated your firmware because you have that laggy image when you pan across the scenery, have you updated firmware? It should not stutter like that, you can youtube it, there are some guy that made a nice video about it and how it looks after update, butter smooth.

+MessiahGaming1080p I was actually using my iPhone for the b-roll. But I also need to check the firmware on my G85.

I see, then that is the answer because it was strobing a lot there at 0:20, just so people don't get the wrong idea about the G85, should mention that to not confuse potential buyers or spread wrong info about it's performance. Thanks for sharing the video it's good stuff as usual. Your video about the G85 image stabilisation made me go for that instead of the G7 and it is indeed a beautiful camera. Now I just want the Leica 25 mm 1,4 lens and I think I will be very happy. Except a really good zoom lens would be cool also, I find myself wanting to zoom more than I thought I would.

Can you record time lapse in 16:9? I watched another KZbin who said it will only do time lapse in 4:3 on the G85. Thanks, John

When you’re doing time lapse, does it turn off the camera?

I know that it's been 2 years since you replied. But the camera also turns off when you have your shutter type at ESHTR and you need to change it to MSHTR.
