It took me so long to get used to the spring-loaded release I was given by my friend when I got my first big boy bow, it's spring loaded in the opposite direction, so it wants to remain open unless you have it set closed, then it's like a breath could send it down range. I sent this video to my friend who just got into archery and it helped him a great deal

I’ve been looking at releases… actually looking at everything as I’m buying my first bow in the new year. My first thought on releases was that I don’t want to have to futz around with a wrist strap and now that I see how it’s constructed I wouldn’t want to have to even use it… cutting parts to adjust the fit? I had already semi decided on a thumb trigger release but this sealed the deal. Thanks.

Usually, I will further trim the tubing I cut off and put it over the exposed threads and put a small lock nut to hold it on.

"The Ulmer method" - best way to shoot an index finger release. Fire it with back tension vs. trigger finger.
@pattowle443411 ай бұрын
Great release for the $$. When shortening the length, not only do you cut the tubing but you will need to cut the bolt down. Not hard to do but time consuming. Cut bolt also always for the release to fold back.

I would HIGHLY recommend if you bow hunt with compound bow buy at least 2 releases so if you lose one you always have a back up and shoot with both go back and forth.

I returned the stinger xt after i found that 1/2 of the sensitivity adjustments cause NDs from the d loop slipping through the clamps. I went with a hinge opening wrist release and am wayyy happier. Also, the adjust by cutting the tube on the stinger is just preposterous.

something he doesnt mention here is, draw length on a wrist is different than a thumb. I highly recommend trying both styles out before you buy. also, if you look at the tournaments, you wont see anyone using a wrist. I use the UV Button, and of the 8 or 9 releases ive tried out, its the best by far. just.... wildly expensive.

Any advice for making the switch between trigger and thumb? I've lost 2 arrows on the draw back (accidently bumped the thumb and the tension was so light it couldn't handle the 65lbs draw and released). I was thinking blank bale at like 5yds till I get comfy with it?

After 40+ years of being out of the archery seen ive been thinking about getting back into it. My last bow was a jennings and we didnt have to use a release....I tride a release a few times back in the day and after a few times of puching myself in the face I threw that thing in the trash haha....... To be honest thats the only thing giving me hesitation on getting back into shooting a compound....I dont ever see it being talked about on any videos......Is that no longer an issue??......Im really not a fan of punching myself in the face haha

What is a great entry-level thumb button ?
@DrunkinDonut57311 ай бұрын
I use the boost ignite from lancaster and I love it. Trigger is crisp with very little travel. The only things I don't like about it is that it's smooth and alittle slippery (iv never had a problem with that) and the click is pretty loud when firing but for $100 it's a great deal
@Easternandoutward11 ай бұрын
@@DrunkinDonut573 I appreciate info. And I’ll look it up I’ve been using a true fire release for 17 years. And I finally scratched it and made it rigid on public land the other day, about two weeks ago. And not sure how I did. But I was looking at a release for $130 or $165 from B3 archery. Called the exit. And it looks pretty good. My dream release. Is the ultraview ub button. But $300 or 350. Is a little steep for me right now. Because I need to buy a climber or just a new public land set up because I’m trying to decide between a saddle, climber, or a hang on set up And I need a new sight. And oh yeah, don’t forget a new string for a new bow I just got 3 months ago ish so I kind of feel defeated Once KZbin gets me monetized. It will definitely help me out with traveling and hunting purchases. But that’s just the sport we love. lol 😂
