First things I do: FIrst thing I do is scope out the windows and any other lights we have to compete with. This includes using a sun tracker app to see where the sun is going to be during our shoot. Secondly, I start looking for power outlets and started testing the echo in the room. In general those are the first 1 or 2 things I like to do aside from checking for parking spots and how we are going to load in the equipment (some places don't adequate parking or large enough entrances to load-in all your equipment, adding time to set things up). Thanks for sharing these marvelous tips!

The combination of the panning/zooming shots and the match cuts really take you on a journey, great job!

This is so great and I really love the final result. It feels like a 2000 Spielberg film with amazing blocking and lens zooming.

I love that it's loopable but also ends in a conclusive way! I see everything is nicely center framed to vertical social media videos (I hate it, but hey, it's unfortunately something we gotta do sometimes) smart! Looking forward to more! Can't wait.

Trying to introduce depth and create frame-within-frame opportunities is handy when filming in a small store to make it look bigger and more interesting (shooting through doorways, putting things in the foreground in front of your subject etc). Helped me out when shooting an ad in a tiny little shop a while ago. Really love the finished product you guys ended up with!

Cool! I love the zooming in effect using the lens. Also, those transitions were clean and the looping too. Thank you for the tips!

I really love the concept you had and the loop was a really pleasant surprise. Well executed and great tip about diffusing the lights with parchment paper. I never thought of that and that’s so cheap and easy to travel with or to purchase locally if needed. Amazing team and great work as always! 🤙

Make sure you have actors and not film real customers. Not only do they reaaaally not like that, but they also stare deep into the lens and ruin a lot of shots.

Pre pandemic I used to do a LOT of talking heads for small businesses (Chriropractors, optometrists, bed and breakfast, car repair shops, barbershops, nutritionists, physio therapists, dentists ...) and shooting in their location would always be a bit of a challenge what with TERRIBLE lighting with horrible babalats that would cause banding and terrible color rendering. The company that would sub contract to me did NOT include lighting in the contract. I was expected to shoot with available light ... I brought my own lighting gear anyways and just didn't charge them because I care about my work. LOL It did make my work shine (pun intended) compared to that of the others. Some of the most usefull things I have in my bags are cheap shower liners to act as large diffusion (great for softening window light or over head lights and dirt cheap), parchement paper (same thing but smaller) and (in my car trunk not in my bags) some foamcore sheets as bounce / flags.

Did you shoot in the store privately or was there regular customers during shooting? If yes. How did you work arround that?

Thanks for the question! There were regular customers during the shoot, but those we focused on in this commercial were hired.
