One good tip to add for sound: always record a few minutes of "room tone". This is simply the ambient sound of where you are and will allow you to make smooth edits in your sound as it will provide a continuous consistency sound.

I would imagine your courses are amazing. I've been producing for over 35 years. What I love about your videos is how rapid they are and how many samples you have when you speak of something. I know it's a lot of work and thought process. For me it's like a refresher of what I already know. I would imagine newbys want to stop the video to absorb the information. You can never stop learning. Thank you 8-)

I've shot 10 years as a still shooter and I contract video guys to work with me. Overall this video is really good. The one thing I might change is to skip the wireless mic. The lav is correct (and that placement is genius) but just use a tascam dr-10 or similar device to record into the groom's jacket. Out in the boonies it's cool, but downtown in Chicago those wireless signals are jammed like crazy. Nothing but issues with wireless mics in urban areas. Wireless lav presents a serious risk of the lav audio recording being lost with no advantage. The dr-10 also records at two gains (volumes) to avoid missing important audio. Way less pressure on the lav audio source if the ceremony is miced like this, but more and more I'm seeing ceremonies go unplugged so pressure is on the lav to provide audio.

Jay Bee to be fair if you want to be a good brother you'd better hire a talented photographer and let him/her do the job.. As much love and care you'd put into this it's not gonna be good, it's a real job that need practice, knowledge and experience, trust me am saying this for your sister's sake
@libafried5840
@libafried5840 6 жыл бұрын
Jay Bee Good luck. Photography is very hard, I would recommend being a second shooter before shooting weddings solo, but if you are doing videography, just practice a lot beforehand, make sure you have a good video camera for low light with a good microphobe for quality sound and good luck!

so do you ALWAYS shoot 60fps at a wedding? I know a lot of wedding films often use slow motion in a good majority of their shots but I also know that you should necessarily be compressing 60fps footage to 24fps for normal speed shots. people tell me record 24 when you know you want no slo mo but tbh I never know what moments exactly I want in slow mo and normal speed
@killerkonsti767
@killerkonsti767 7 жыл бұрын
TWHD. Then why not record 60 and in post, you can use slomo and compress the none slomo to 24
@TWgamerbuilder
@TWgamerbuilder 7 жыл бұрын
killer konsti well thats what I do the majority of the time but I'm being told that I shouldn't be doing that and that compressing the 60 to 24 isn't good. honestly though I can't tell any difference in quality so I'll probably just keep doing it
@juliethebeans2
@juliethebeans2 7 жыл бұрын
TWHD. Playing back higher frame rates like 50, 60, or 120 is typically fine to playback at 24 or 23.9 What you don't want to do is change your sequence to a higher frame rate. If your sequence is set to 60fps and your footage is at 24, you will experience choppyness and repeated frames
@aboutrightmediagroup7962
@aboutrightmediagroup7962 7 жыл бұрын
It's more of a technical issue. If you shoot your entire project at 60 fps, but your base project is say, 24 fps, then you will be losing frames because 60 divided by 24 isn't an even number. The footage can come off a tad bit choppy. Some may not think twice about it visually, but there is a reason why the higher end camera's offer a wide amount of frame rates (24, 30, 48, 60, 120 etc.) On a creative aspect, framerates that are higher than the base are used for slow-mo's or speed up techniques vice versa. Lastly higher framerates require a bit more processing power when the base framerate is changed.
@michaelluzecky4026
@michaelluzecky4026 4 жыл бұрын
According to Parker, shoot 60 fps for any shots of the bride and groom kissing, hugging, them hugging their families, basically any shot besides when you get footage of a person talking that will be used in the final product. When someone’s talking, as in like the minister or the best man or maid of honor, that’s when you go for 24 fps.

Quick question. How long do your weddings usually come out to in the final edit/product? Weddings I've shot and edited in the past have ran 30, sometimes even 40 minutes for a final run time. Most of the wedding videography I've seen in recent times however (such as wedding videography produced by you) come out anywhere from 5, sometimes 15 minutes in runtime max. Just looking for a professional opinion.

Man I have so much to learn lol. Love the BTS video for beginners like myself. I use a glide cam with a fixed 24 lens but drool over your tighter shots when you can adjust from 24 to 70 and adjust your glidecam I seconds. I should get a lens like that... but learning to adjust the glidecam while on the clock in a ceremony would stress me out haha.

@Parker Walbeck. Great footage, but it seems really intrusive considering the ceremony. I'm sure you had discussions with the wedding party prior to the event. What were their thoughts on that? Great work, and great tutorial.
@coltonsandoval5293
@coltonsandoval5293 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremy, Im actually the groom from the video so I thought I would respond real quick. There was nothing about the experience that felt in any way intrusive and there was no need for much discussion prior to. In fact, we were so caught up in the actual moment that we didn't even notice they were anywhere around us! Parker creates the most awesome wedding videos I have ever seen and his process is necessary for the results. We were very fortunate to have him there. Being able to relive that moment and share it in such detail is not something many people have the option of! Long story short, nothing felt intrusive and we would not have had it any other way :)

I know exactly what you mean. I was thinking the same thing. Good to see the groom's perspective BUT if I were a guest I wouldve been annoyed seeing these guys swooping in the middle of the ceremony. Granted I could appreciate the kinds imagery being created, but from a guest's standpoint I would have been distracted which in turn would pull me away from the entire ceremony altogether. These are beautiful videos no doubt but very intrusive in my opinion.
