After having spent the past 10 weeks with a very painful and life-altering fracture to my dominant wrist, I've been experimenting with ways to rack, change mags, and release the slide with just my non-dominant left hand. I found a way to chamber rounds with my shoes but the tip with your knee is purely ingenious not to mention way more practical!!! Many thanks

You've got a very unique course catalog which is impressive to the least. Any tips or suggestions on a small ambidextrous 9 mm with low enough recoil for me to get comfortable going beyond snap caps to practicing these left-handed only maneuvers with live ammo? This is truly do or die because I literally have no idea when or if I'll ever have functional use of my right wrist back. Thanks a billion in advance

Great drill, im a new shooter and currently am trying to learn more and more. One issue I had is, YOU MUST USE THE SLIDE RELEASE IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE YOUR PISTOLS PERFORMANCE WHEN RELOADING! It's MUCH faster, can be trained easily with dry fire, and it's just logical. The designers put that release for a reason. If you don't use it, you are handicapping yourself and putting yourself and everyone around you in that much more danger. I've been binge watching a ton of Sheepdog Tactical and one of the instructors say that the time difference in slide releasing vs going over the top equated to 10 rounds from a PKM burst. If football is a game of inches and seconds, Gunfights are a game of millimeters and milliseconds.
@TacticalRifleman2 жыл бұрын
I agree. However, practice BOTH methods, as sometimes (such as wearing heavy winter gloves) the slide release doesn't function reliably. Learn and master both. THen, use the faster technique. Thanks for watching, TR

A good way to avoid having to rack (esp since some of cannot do it one handed) is to swap a mag before you're out. Though that obviously deprives you of a round (or more if you lose count) that's a tradeoff you have to weigh. I have a 6+1 and practice with triple taps, so after just two triple taps, I swap the mag and never have to rack.

For someone in a wheelchair(as I am a T4, I have control from nipper up, and full use of arms and hands.. I've (liertally) just came up with a stance solution for someone in my situation or other situations, u may have to tweak it for you tho.. but mine is if the threat is at my 12 o'clock, as I draw, I pull back on my left wheel, turning to the 9 or 10 o'clock and shooting at a 2:30 or 3 oclock position, which allows you to shoot and sty stationary.. or shoot at the 12 and if it rolls you, well that's just a small tactical retreat.. largest issue with being on wheels and maybe not having time to lock the brakes, is if the ground is un even, well , personally I know I'd be shooting on the move if I had to. What worries me is my accuracy being diminished by the fact I can't control my abdomen, or God forbid I need to take a life or death shot and my abdomen or legs spaz and throw my aim to the sky.. (bc technically all I can control is my top, so think of me as a bobble head, but over the years I've calmed down the bobble. But its still very much a bobble

I'm curious, I know guns have alot of safety features to prevent misfires, but when he racks the gun in the "feet and knees together" technique the gun faces quite predominantly towards his feet. Is there a chance that, seeing as the weapon is hot, that it could go off during this maneuver? I know these guys are professionals, and I'm sure if you were in a position that you had to shoot one handed it might be a risk you have to take, but is that a danger? or is it perfectly safe?
@nikolaikalashnikov42536 жыл бұрын
Yes, the gun can fire when you rack the slide... That's why you always keep it pointed in a safe direction. Eventho the gun is pointed "toward" his feet, his knees are bent and the gun angled in a such a way that it's not pointed exactly at his feet.

Yes. It also keeps you from sub consciously swinging that hand around, which would move our other arm. Plus, when injured, your natural response is to withdraw your hand (think grabbing a hot pot); so you are practicing for real life.

In a case of target closing the space to go hands on.Or even if they aren't making a charge. I was thinking that this in both cases could be applied and or considered.As it is a primal - animal instinct .That after a party is injured the foe can instinctively move in for the kill. As they see you wounded and feed off this. What I am considering once one is injured and or has lost total or partial use of the support or strong arm. It's at the time the injury is incurred .That Breaking the contact, and or tactical widening the gap between you and your target becomes even more vital. Also I considered and this is all subsequent to one's environment and or situation. Whilst Breaking contact widening the gap or space between you and the threat. I imagine that any obstetrical or cover you can get between you and your target the better. If only for the reason of once that slide locks back you don't want the threat to close the space before you get a round chambered. I realize that there are always exceptions and what if I am here or there. But for the most part when in public or at our homes. There are 98.9 % of the time cars tree's furniture IE obstetrical and or cover and concealment. Now with this said I know the difference between cover and concealment. However I am using the word "OBSTETRICAL'S" in a context of putting more in the path of the threat. To give the victim that extra second that can make a difference

Thanks, nobody ever showed me the knees thing... watching this brings me up to this question. Let's say your left arm has an injury and you have a misfire? This would be a striker fired or single action gun that doesn't have an exposed hammer so striking the round again till it fires isn't an option. Or maybe its any semi automatic but the gun jammed. Or shit maybe your gun didn't lock open and you are doing a reload.
