Slide lock with the off hand makes sure the mag is seated so you don't accidentally miss stripping the top round by panicking and hitting it too early. Also running the slide should be done by pushing the gun away, not pulling the offhand towards you. Just my (and my Israeli instructors) two cents.
@TacticalRifleman7 жыл бұрын
Both solid techniques; just not the ones we teach. That doesn't make them wrong. We actually teach the "Push the Pistol" technique of racking the slide for all people with less hand strength (was gonna say kids or girls, but that is politically correct). Instead of pulling with their hand, they can push with their whole arm. Thanks for commenting.

As stated in the video; 1. 1:00 What would be the "issues identified" in particular with the gun (what key parts would I need to know on these issues?) [Note: I assume this could be from another video.] 2. 1:41 Which part would be intervened with the malfunction excluding the clip and round? 3. Considering the difference between Cover and Concealment, what would be the most common, wrong move during combat and the enemy has their gun loaded, for those who do not have any experience with it? 4. Movies, we've seen them all. Which reload do you think is very repetitive? Otherwise, this was a really good video! A clean explanation, defined actions and understanding the reason behind it. This does not only tell me what to do right, but to acknowledge how much a simple thing could be so uniquely performed.

Tactical reload. What we found was under stress, shooters will look for more rounds in their mag pouches, not their back pocket etc. Since a tactical reload is not performed while the shooting is still occurring, take the time to bump up the full mag from the secondary pouch to the primary mag pouch and put the part full mag in the secondary pouch. When you watch shooters under a bit of stress reload, their hand will normally go to the primary mag pouch. So conditioned are they to do so, we would see them do this even if they were suppose to be reloading their Taser for which the reloads are on the support side of the body on the Taser holster rig.

I have had a glock 23 for more than 12 years and always when I recharged by putting the magazine and hitting it on the base the slide closed and I could continue shooting. Now isn't uploading the ammunition to the chamber. What is the reason for this malfunction?
@jeffreylboardsr2577 Жыл бұрын
Slide release is the most efficient method to use to chamber a round after a slide lock reload. About .5> seconds if using sling shot or traditional rack compared to the slide release.
@lilalali67534 жыл бұрын
The only problem with pressing the slide lock release with shooting hand is that it is possible to do it before the full magazin is seated in the gun. Beeing unaware of empty chamber sucks. Some pistols detect rounds in the inserted mag and automatically release the slide lock. I think that is an excellent innovation.

I'm about 99% on board. As far as "bringing gun into your work space" I only slightly retract arms keeping gun pointed down range bringing mag to gun, also keeping my eyes down range & reloading by feel so I don't have to re-aquire targets.
@damiansar15 Жыл бұрын
On tac loads, magazine should align on-top of the pistol magwell, not below; this ensures the fresh mag is in the best view during insertion. I used to conduct tac mag changes like this video, but have been advised to load from the top side, not bottom slide, as video shows...

I love the M&P pistols for speed reloads because if you push the magazine in hard enough, the slide will catch that first round. Not a huge fan of striker fire triggers personally but firearms are subjective, everyone varies a bit in what they find comfortable on a gun.

The popular mechanics applied to the Smith guns actually holds true to most semiauto striker fired guns on the market. I can pull it off with both my Glock 17 and 19, it's much harder to do with glocks, but enough experimenting will show that strong-arming the mag into place can pull off the same result. Fun fact: it's even more common when weight is added to the end of the barrel, causing a shift in balance that results in altered points of contact where the barrel sits within the slide and frame (such as when you put a suppressor on your barrel).

Hi, question here. I've never shot a gun or even hold one, so excuse my ignorance. I'm building a (Shooter) video game and I need advice, as I'm trying to make the game as real as possible. The character will be able to do both tactical and speed reload. I'm trying to learn about the techniques here (so thank you for the video!!!). My question are: 1) the character has emptied his gun (shot all bullets), so the gun's slide woud be in full retraction (sorry if I'm not using the proper terms), like 0:54 . When he inserts a new mag, and release the slide lock (like 1:47), does a fresh round (automatically) goes into the chamber (ready to fire) ? or is it necessary to rack the slide (like instructor does at 3:29) ? 2) the character is doing a tactical reload .. after reloading, the gun should have now a full clip (let's say 15 bullets) + 1 bullet that is already chambered (from the old mag). Is that Correct ? Thank you! I really appreaciate the advise!
@harryhog19775 жыл бұрын
1. Yes. Slide is locked when there’s no more bullets in the mag and you’ve fired you last round in the gun. Drop the empty mag, insert a fresh mag, hit slide release = 1 round in the chamber and a full magazine in the mag well (1 less round that went into the chamber). 2. Yes. For a tactical load, all you’re doing is swapping magazines. You will more than likely reinsert the swapped out mag back into your kit somewhere. FYSA, they are called magazines, not clips.

the slingshot way of sending the slide home is how I do it
@deplorabledave10487 жыл бұрын
John sent me here from his channel. I subbed immediately. Good stuff. Yes I use Glock's extended slide release/ lock on my G 19 and G 17 to send the slide home. It is just second nature to me. And yes, I can do the slingshot function just fine if I want. But I much prefer using my extra large size hand's thumb to release the slide. It's so seamless and smooth. It gets me back on target faster in my opinion. Bringing the gun back in closer to the workspace is something I need to do more. I tend to forget to do that, and so I need to practice that. Thank you so much for this video. And yes I am on the Bell Google Plus alert system for any of your new videos and I always up vote.

New hand gun owner, just curious why do some people never use slide lock to release the slide. Someone told me you should only power stroke the slide and never release it with the slide catch. When i asked why he said because i said so.
@TacticalRifleman6 жыл бұрын
Fine motor skills often don't work well under stressful situations, so many focus on grabbing the whole slide. I have the muscle memory for both techniques. Another reason is that, while wearing gloves, it may be hard to release. Again, use your brain, weigh your situation, and then train to match the worst case scenario. Thanks for watching.
