Would you still do this same set up if you were indoors? These shots were remarkable!

@@leroytademy Thank you for the response. I am always interested in camera settings and lighting setups, especially since it looks like you used one monolight and a shoot through umbrella. I have an Explor 600 I am learning to use and an octobox. I have some other modifiers too, including a few umbrellas. Also any tips on posing would make a useful video.

How do you decide when to shoot through an umbrella versus using a soft box? May be a topic for another video. Thanks!
@leroytademy6 ай бұрын
I typically use a soft-box if I want the light more focused on my subject. Also, with a soft-box I also have the option to grid my light as well and narrow the beams coming out of the modifier. With umbrellas I’m typically wanting a wider spread of light just on the subject in general to light them and fill shadows. Let me know if that doesn’t make sense.

@@leroytademy Totally makes sense. Thanks for the reply!

how are these "candid" ?! They're super stiff and posed though!
@leroytademy8 ай бұрын
@dudumozer thank you for your feedback. Correct me if I'm wrong but I categorize any photos with my subject not looking at the camera in my frame to be considered a candid. I am not shooting full on photo journalistic poses as candids if that's what you are referring to as far as super stiff poses. These types of candid shots work for my market, but I am interested to know if something you are doing might work better. Thanks

Any money to be made in prom pictures these days? Seems like everyone is happy with their cell phone pictures for proms. I can't see many kids rolling up wanting to pay like you would years ago.

Averaging about $350 a couple for 30 min shoot this year.

I thought the same thing a while ago. Started shooting high school sports and I couldnt beleive how many kids want their photos taken by a professional, not just sports but senior, prom and graduation photos. Theres tons of money to be made there! Edit: I forgot another one, Band! my daughter is in band and its what got me in the door at her high school. Doing individual photos with their instruments is a big one.
