This is probably a stupid question... NEWBIE ALERT... But why pry off all the metal pieces instead of cutting what you don't need off?? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Both top edges of the zipper, 1.5 cm each, must be free of metal. You will to sew them on a sewing machine.
