How to shot trace golf shots in Premiere Pro

Couldn't find a good tutorial on KZbin for shot tracing so I figured out my own way using Adobe Premiere Pro, and I figured I'd make a tutorial. Enjoy!

Hey boss. Love the tutorial, great stuff. Keep the content coming!!.. Just wanted to chime in, you mentioned that your computer tends to crash a lot, that will continue to happen especially with RAM based premiere.... I myself work in both platforms and have shared a tutorial on creating tracers in Ae. I've even given you a project file with directions on how to open the Ae file, manipulate the stroke and export for premiere... I am also currently working on a mogrt plugin for Premiere using this same kind of stroke... its a WIP at the moment, but i should have the plugin ready within the next couple weeks. Yup, not happening. I was gonna give it a try to see if I can make them a little better... people will just have to come for the commentary the golf tracer they can take it or leave it. I don't have time to do all this lol

Nice. Does key framing the appearance of the line also work?

Tom Sullivan typically all directly editable effects can be controlled with key frames. Opacity, stroke, color, brightness etc. I have yet to see many features that weren’t editable with key frames and if they aren’t in premiere then they almost always are on after effects.

@@SawyerWilson that’s the jist of the way I trace shots now with after effects. This was intended for more of a quick fix for those who didn’t want to delve into the more complex methods I was learning at the time. If there is a way to animate a drawn line in premiere without creating an entire new image for each frame then I am not familiar with it. I am far from an expert but I don’t think Premiere is really intended for that type of work, I feel what you are describing can be done in after effects easily. I don’t think you can key frame length and shape of pen lines in premiere. I am working on making a tutorial of my new method that can be seen in my latest Vlogs. A lot smoother and more professional looking.

I do the same thing but in After Effects because you can make more of a "3d" flat line like you see on TV...not a one with uniform thickness. Then you can have the line disappear from impact point...kind of real itself in at the end. Kind of like this shape...but I didn't "retract" the trace after. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKDZpXdsntenndE
