How to SHOWER INSIDE a tiny van

This video shows how we made a fantastic, cheap van life shower for the inside of our van. we are a van life couple on a huge van life Europe adventure, hope you can join us as we live in a van and take on the world!
When you live in a small van with no bathroom, showering can be difficult, especially in the Winter when you don't want to shower outside. We have found a perfect solution so you can have a shower in your van, really cheap, easy to make and doesn't take up much room.

Here's a water saving trick for you. Get a Dollar store spray bottle. Fill it 1/3 with shampoo and 2/3s water. Get in the shower and spray yourself with the mixture first. Lather up and then rinse off. This will eliminate having to pre-wet yourself. Works great for washing the dogs as well.

Look up duckworks shower. You use a plastic weedsprayer painted black attached to a sprayer attachment, leave the tank in the sun to heat. Give the sprayer a few pumps to pressurize and there you have it.

I'm from The north east of USA, but I love your British or English accent. I think your language is so proper sounding. My great grand mom immigrated from London while my Great Grand Father immigrated from East Germany because he was a wonderful carpenter and came to help USA during their building boom and also have steady work. So when I speak I have a bit of words that mimic both languages, but English is dominate when I speak. I use a lot of English Cliche's lol, guess I picked them up from Grammy. You could put a valve on the bucket that you stand in and run a hose out the door for those long showers that we all like to take sometimes. I think your shower was a great idea, and I think you could make or hang a box down from the roof of your fan to stuff the shower into - the hoop.

I wonder if there is a way to connect a water hose to the black basin and run it outside of the van. Also an idea... Use strong magnets to attach the hoop to the roof.

Asha Wheeler Yes you Probable could use some kind of hose to run the water outside, we are happy with how it is as it’s just so portable, had quite a few showers already and we less then half fill our bucket! Grate idea you could cut the hoop use the Velcro as loops for the certain use a joiner on the hoop and you can slide the shower certain on the hoop

Helio shower bag has a foot pump and holds around 2 gallons of water. It’s black so u fill with water and put it out in the sun to heat the water. It expands and has enough pressure to spray water for a while after you pump it a few times.

Hula hoop as curtain track - genius! There was this guy on KZbin who did what you have done with the ceiling mount. In his case, however, he built a small boxy structure which swung down from ceiling letting curtain drop. When done, he tucked in the curtain into the box and swung it back to the ceiling (on hinges) and latched it shut. That was the most ingenious shower I have seen. The curtain track was inside that box mounted to ceiling, and so was the shower holder which swung down from the ceiling. You might try that. I would also get a washing machine tub pan or similar to set the bucket in. Now you can step out of bucket if you need to. A piece of artificial turf will keep your feet dry in the pan area.

The original Velcro from a year ago is still up and the hula hoop just sits permanently up on the roof, taking the curtain on and off as and when! Great use of a hula hoop. I used to use a camp shower bag solar heated thing years back. Fill with water and let it sit in the sun all day. I would top it off with a bit more hot water and hang it on a tree. That might be a low cost temp solution for warm water for you. Rig a center hook to loop it onto and viola. How's the humidity issue?

We also managed to buy the 12v pump camp shower which is great. For the humidity we change the position of the hula hoop so it sits right under the open sunroof, any steam going straight out!!! Hey ! Take a little bigger bucket and go up about 4 inches from the bottom. Cut a circle and glue a pipe insert. Then have a pipe you can attach when you shower to make water run outside.

i just made this shower.lol ive upgraded it already with a portable gas shower for 60 quid..its instant and you simply just fit the hose from the 12v shower head you mentioned..it all fits..perfect..runs off lpg and they use them in the fields for cleaning horses etc..but fab idea..i probably nicked it off you though..lol

I was looking into the same thing in a VW Transporter and did a little test, I timed the house bathroom shower on low and then worked out the minimum water I needed and it worked out at wet yourself, lather yourself down and rinse off took a four pint milk container so half hot and half warm so 6 pints would give you a pretty good wash down. Same as you I could have the shower pump to a cigarette lighter socket and have a shower outside at the rear doors. in summer. Good idea with the builders bucket as I was looking for a miniature kiddies blow up paddling pool.

Norman Butler Great idea to test that out so you know how much water you need👍👍 it’s amazing how efficient we become when living this lifestyle, like you said, you can have a perfectly fine shower with very little water😉every time we shower we use absolute minimum, same doing the dishes etc, even if we have a full tank! Buy the UNIKON portable bathtub. I use it. It's not inflatable, just a foldable plastic vertical bathtub. It's really strong and you can sit in it and it reaches up to your chest like an actual bathtub.

Kind of a lot to go thru when you can attache a shower curtain on a u-shaped rod that slides out at the back of the van. Use large plastic tubes along the top edge of the van (one white and one black for hot water (the sun warms it, careful tho it can get very hot). Makes a much larger shower, changing room or commode room. Place a rubber mat on the ground if needed.

the exPAWers yeah your shower seems like just what you need! I did watch the outdoor shower in the cold vid...brrr!!! Reminds me of one time in CA I showered outdoors and it was like 45 degrees with a breeze! I quickly turned on the heat, afterwards! Lol. I’ll be watching you guys vids!...and laughing lol. Lol somehow I just saw your last comment! Thanks for congratulating me on my van! It’s a 1990 coachmen, full camper, on a Ford van chassis! It’s all original inside and I’m not sure what works. Currently I go to the YMCA to shower, or stand outside in my swimsuit, since it’s summer now. Going forward I hope to get solar and also power, water, etc. it does have a toilet and small bath/shower in the back. I’m in no rush to get these things fixed. Right now it’s just nice to be able to drive anywhere, climb in the back, and just crash out! Lol. Hope you guys are enjoying your weekend! Cheers! 😄

John Hill Hey John, sounds great! It’s just 1 year older then our van, Fords are tough motors... just watch out for the rust😬😉 yeah it’s great in the summer when you can swim in lakes, cold shower outside the van etc😉.... Enjoy your adventures!🚐🚐🚐

Delimama Awww, thanks so much😊😊 magnets would be great also! Not for us tho as our roof is fibreglass!! We do use magnets a lot for other things. We sometimes magnet the wet shower curtain to outside of the van, dries in no time😉 thanks so much for watching!🚐👫🐕🐕

I have seen something similar where the shower curtain was in the well of the door step into the van. Ths way there was no need for a bucket the water simply flowed out. Other have also used a large black water bladder placed on top of the van allowed to heat up [obviously summer only] and had warm water showers All the best Safe journey's
