At about 8.25 he suggests using a 3rd truing point to improve accuracy. In sighting in the Oracle X I found if I did not use a 3rd SR point my arrow would shoot high at longer distances ( 50 yds +). I talked to tech support at Burris (very helpful) and the guy said to add a 3rd SR value. When I did this the scope was extremely accurate (shooting a Raven r10) at all distances out to 70 yds. My SR distances were 35 yds, 50 yds and 70 yds. 😀

I think this scope is going to be a real game changer for me. My biggest concern about hunting with a crossbow, or a vertical bow, has always been ending up with a wounded and lost deer. Because of inaccurate range estimation. If this device continues to work as well as it did this morning my hunting is going to be much more fun because I'll know the range holder at the click, actually two clicks, of a button. I sighted it in for 20 with little problem and then went out to 50. It was already set at the factory to be within two inches the bullseye at 5o. I followed the directions and a short time later managed to drop the pin on to the bullseye. After a few shots accepted the setting and then fired a few more off the bench. Right on. And then, walked toward the target and shot again at a random distance. Right on. Not once did I have to fiddle with a hand held range finder. Next I'll back off to 70 or so and if it's on at that range will back out to 100 and verify the curve (trajectory) at that range. At this point, I think you guys at Burris have produced a product that will prevent a lot of wounding and lost deer. Nice job.

I needed to change arrows so the day before yesterday I had to re-tru SR1. I got it down to essentially shooting same hole at 50 twice in a row so set it aside for the day. It was late. And I figured that was close enough. The next morning I shot twice, at 50 yds again, and it impacted about 1.5 inches high and left. I was afraid the scope might not be maintaining zero, but it was also a little windy, so I set the bow aside until almost dead calm that evening. Under almost dead calm conditions I shot at 50 again and dead on. Two perfect bullseyes at 50. Good enough. To end the day I set up at 70 on a different lane through the woods that drops about 6 feet over 100 yards and squeezed one off. Perfect elevation but maybe an inch right. Today, under a very slight wind, I shot again at 70, and then moved the target out to 81 yards. At 81the POI was perfect in terms of elevation and about an inch right. Shot again and the POI was about .25 in high and right. Finally, I changed the power from 7 to 2 back and forth a couple of times and then to 7 and the POI was about .5 inches low. So, changing the power did not change the POI. The .5 inch off the bullseye was likely wind or me. In summary, the scope held zero, ranged and dropped a LED properly/accurately out to 81 yards, while properly adjusting for the decline in elevation to the target. With only one truing session at 50 yards. Shooting was done with a Mission MXB-400 off a bench (tables) with the bow resting on sand bags. Under near calm winds. The bow was roughly choreographed at 371 fps. At that arrow speed the LED bottoms out at a little less than 100 yards using 7 X magnification. Lowering the magnification will stretch the effective range of the scope well beyond that. What a treat to have something that works so well. If it does not stay that way I'll let you know! Nice job Burris, Jake.

@@BurrisOpticsCompany Thanks for the excellent bow scope! I just got out to 100 so these will be my last comments unless something breaks. Shot a few at 81 and POIs just a little right. Apparently I need to adjust scope to impact left just a bit. Shot 2 at 100 and also a little right but in a .75 inch group. Not bad, right? If you have a problem screwing in the battery cap get a 3/8 inch wooden dowl and cut it about 7 inches long. In one end cut a slot center line of the dowl the width of the saw blade so that the half moon flap on the cap will fit into the slot. This will make screwing in the cap much easier.

If I set up the truing distances for the second arrow will it adjust my 20 yard dot for that arrow? How many truing points are you using? For faster cross bows we recommend 4 truing points starting at 40 yards. 40, 60, 80, 100 will give you the best curve.
@jeffsalsieder640 Жыл бұрын
I have set SR1 at 30, SR2 at 39, SR3 at 50 and SR4 at 60. If I want to change an SR distance do I have to stay in order or will the computer rearrange? In other words, if I change SR3 to 80, does it matter that it is longer than the 60 yards set for SR4?
@BurrisOpticsCompany Жыл бұрын
Yes that would likely result in something strange happening with the curve. You'll need to properly have them set by distance in ascending order for it to calculate properly.

@@BurrisOpticsCompany Good to know thanks. I am curious what the factory loaded ballistics profile uses for arrow speed. I assume it is much higher than my 305 fps based on some trial shots with the existing horizontal marks. In any case, I was very impressed with how closely the scope predicted my next SR after the previous one was set. My recommendation for an improvement is that it be more obvious if you are on Bolt 1 vs Bolt 2 profile. It seems to me I would need to go into the menu to verify. It would be nice if a 1 or 2 (or better, A or B) would be present at the upper readout just as your Y for yardage is always there.

If you have a newer cell phone that does slow motion video its often useful to film the release of the bolt from the top looking down on the crossbow and from the side as well. That can help you determine things like mistimed cams, inconsistent spined bolts, contact points of the fletching, etc. I also tend to mark my arrows/bolts with a number to see if they behave differently. If bolt #3 consistently hits off then I know I'll have to get rid of that one. I tend to see 1 out of 6 doesn't hit the same point of impact for whatever reason.

so... for the guts of how this works... internally, it's not projecting a moving digital aiming point.... it's merely got a string of led's on the elevation bar that it's choosing to illuminate depending on how you setup the ballistic curve? Watching how the sighting is done... and that the adjustments for elevation and windage are done via the mounting system... i'd be worried that a knock to the bow/scope could blow your aim (easier than a blow to a scope with internal adjustments, at least).

Correct - there isn't an internal aiming point but rather an LED bar on the vertical that lights up based on calculated range, angle, and your ballistic curve. For the external adjustments, that's why we created locking screws for both elevation and windage - to ensure that bumps don't move your point of aim.

I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the kzbin.infoUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well.With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings.For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance.For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.

Absolute disaster, I got it set up perfect at 20 yards and tried to set it up at 30 yards, I couldn't range it, it would not show any reading. So i tried at 40 yards still nothing. I was trying to figure out what I was doing wrong when my crossbow fell off the table and broke the mount. (the plastic part under the scope) I am gutted I never even got to use the electronics at all.

Well I never gave up and now I have my scope dialed in. It took a long time and several trips to the range. First it would have been nice if the instructions would have said something like once you have the 20 yard range dialed in using the windage and elevation adjustments that we DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE these settings again. (This might be obvious to some, not me) Second “chasing the arrows”. Well talk about a huge struggle for someone who is dyslexic. My mind does not see that if I am shooting low of my POA that I need to lower the LED. Or if I am shooting higher that I need to move the LED up. It didn’t make sense to lower my LED, so like an idiot I adjusted the elevation. You can probably see where this is going, yep, south in a hurry. After watching this video for the 30th time and re-reading the instructions for the (Probably) the 40th time it clicked. So I started all over at 20 yards, dialed in perfect. Now at 34 yards (SR1) I understood what is meant by “Chasing the arrows”, which I did, I did have to adjust the led, but got it perfect. Then at 46yards (SR2), 62 yards (SR3), and finally at 79 yards (SR4). WOW, what a difference, I tried a shot at 100 yards to see what would happen I hit the bulls eye dead centre. Then for the shorter distance test. (This is the one which always went south on me before) I shot 28 yards, hit the bulls eye. Now I have confidence which I did not have before. And only 10 days before bow season opens up here in Alberta.

This is an example of something that is a detriment. Things like this, will lead to crossbows being banned from bow seasons.
