This has been helpful, my 3 year old was delayed in speech so we used speech and sign for him to communicate with us. He’s now talking like crazy but he still loves to sign so I’ve kept teaching myself and him as well.

@@ASLLOVE we love it! My sister actually started with my oldest when he was little and we carried over with our little one more often than not we find ourselves all talking and signing at the same time. It’s a beautiful language and I wish they taught this in school.

We did the same when my son was 2, for the same reason. We had a speech therapist and then he became the chattiest person ever. Now we use some signs occasionally for practice.

hello, I'm a beginner and very hard of hearing. can you tell me the sign for grandchildren i.e. grandson/daughter. Thank you for your contribution to the deaf community.
@ASLLOVE8 ай бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching. While I don't have a video showing "grandchildren" you can sign (fingerspell) G-R-A-N-D - (and sign) Daughter or Son. Here is a link showing you two different options.www.signasl.org/sign/grandchild

Our son has a daddy (me) and a papa (my partner) since we’re a 2-dad family. How do we sign these two words?
@ASLLOVE10 ай бұрын
My suggestion would be to sign "Dad" for both since there isn't a separate sign for "Papa." You could create a separate sign as a family. An example could be adding the first letter of your partner's name to the sign for "Dad." This would be an example of a home sign or a name sign. Something unique to you and your family which would allow you to recognize the difference between the signs.

@@ASLLOVE Should I first tap the open five hand to my forehead and then tap the letter G to the same spot?
@ASLLOVE10 ай бұрын
@@GHJ_Music it is entirely up to you but if I were going to sign it, I would do it that way. Establish the sign for “Dad” first.

I know it can be a concern for parents that signing will prevent their child from speaking but he will definitely speak when he is ready. I love that you have been teaching him all along. ❤️
