I have one suggestion- disclaimer: I am not knocking your skills because the results speak for themselves. But when you use the “hot comb” I would suggest stopping 1-2” after the roots- when you glide it down the hair shaft you’re applying unnecessary heat to the length of the hair. I use your exact technique to straighten my hair, however I use an electric hot comb (I just don’t have the time to run back and forth to the kitchen and don’t own a hot plate), when I stopped passing the comb through the entire length of my strands I saw a huge difference in the health of my hair. Just a suggestion. Oh... and you are adorable- I love the puff.

Great tutorial! I learned a technique for the fly aways at the front hairline from my instructor in beauty school. She would spray a bit of hairspray on her comb, and with the "wet" side of the comb, she would lightly comb it over the fly aways, laying the comb on the hair while combing flat over the fly aways. Works like a charm and doesn't make the hair stiff or anything. Great for clients with a little bit of heat damage at the front of their hair, to blend all in.
@QTheBraider6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I use the same method. Her fly aways laid down but the additional pieces were breakage. I didn't want to weigh the hair down too much. Usually the next day after the wrap is taken off, they are in place
@Sunflower94H6 жыл бұрын
You did an awesome job!!!!!! I like how you were honest and took your time doing your client's hair. The part about shedding being a natural thing, to not freak out ( that was A1 information).

The biosilk flat iron serum can weigh hair down very easily. I have to literally use a dot on every section of hair. So i can understand why she uses a dime sized amount of this particular product 😂

I had a client in beauty school who’s hair was soooo thick and long. I swear man..and she requested me after the first time i did her hair. I used the pressing comb on her hair too. Her hair was more coarse than your client’s tho. I do enjoy the hot comb results, but i feel like on this hair texture it wasnt necessary but, maybe it was. All i know it the end results were nice. I need to buy me a larger barreled curling iron because im not a fan of styling hair with a flat iron. I’m just not that good at it
@QTheBraider6 жыл бұрын
All textures do not need the hot comb. However, it was necessary for the middle but of head because it was thicker. I showed different angles of using it for tutorial purposes.
@nicolenunya9846 жыл бұрын
Omg same thing happened to me!! This was when I was used to relaxers and never really having dealt with natural hair. Her hair was sooooo thick and long AND they always cane to me after some girl tried to steal them away but they didn’t like the results 😂😂

My hair is like this exept it is 4a/4b and a little longer and I am 11. My mom would NEVER let me get my hair flat ironed from a shop. I want to try it but she only lets me get it flat ironed when she is doing it, she doesnt trust anyone to do my hair. But trust me, if u had this much hair then u would want to get it done from a shop because it is annoying getting it done from people you know😩😩😩
@youtubelover69976 жыл бұрын
Omg If i had hair like that, it would be my #1 priority. I have a salon straightener, so is that all you'd need? Other than that i'd like to know what a hot comb is, i nvr heard of it b4. Btw her hair turned out so nice.
@ayamejoy6 жыл бұрын
I'm into it, except I don't get the triple straighten at the roots. Won't the babyliss get roots? I might be spoiled by janay mickles videos, and I've seen a full silk press with one pass, minus any taps on roots.

Do you recommend anything specifically for high humidity areas. I live in Houston, right by the water... my hair will straighten and once I walk out the door it'll be a puffy afro again... lol
@QTheBraider6 жыл бұрын
You may be out of luck but try frizz control products. That may or may not help. As a stylist, I don't even offer my silk press service in the summer because of humidity. I specifically do them around winter when it is dry & cold.
@FinalRant006 жыл бұрын
QTheBraider gotcha 👌🏾👌🏾 ty
@mznayduzallinthelifeofnanc89356 жыл бұрын
Try humidity resistant sprays & oil sheen(Mizani & Kera Care), I use them on my clients through the straightening process very lightly but summer time isn't recommended for natural hair being straightened because if the humidity, it's like a waste of time & you don't want heart damage but you can still use that technique in Winter/Spring/Fall months.

Any tips on how to keep your hair from sweating when working out i know this is a main problem in african american women's hair we stop exercising to not sweat out our hair just wondering does anyone have any tips to avoid this from happening who work out all the time?

I would recommend a light workout instead of an intense workout while maintaining your silk press.

Or while working out you can part your hair down the middle and place it in two loosely tied ponytails to ventilate the hair a bit while working out. It helps.
