I have a lot of houseplants, which I've now come to realize could be another form of hoarding, that took up a lot of floorspace. It was a pain moving them around when I need to do cleaning so I bought a few small trollies to place them in. Now I can easily wheel them around for optimal sunlight throughout the day and to simplify cleaning! It has also made things much simpler for days where many plants need water so I am a big fan of having things on wheels now.

For the electric cables/extensions, I have a roll of double-sided gel tape, which peels back on one side. It is sturdy enough to hold a heavy extension cable and cords and when you remove it, it leaves no marks/residue. And...you can reuse it. It cost me $18 for 3 metres and I love it! No drilling required....

Keeping like with like is the best tip as not only does it make finding things easier, it also helps us to see when we have enough of something and therefore easier to avoid buying any surplus. If we do have too much of a certain item it also makes it easier to decide what to let go of as it is all there in front of us. For example, if you keep nightwear in 5 different places you will keep buying pyjamas as you will forget what you own ☺ my other top tip is never, ever, ever wear flip flops to climb a ladder 🥴 💙

I used to have a large ironing board,, which I only use once in a while. When we moved, I got rid of it and bought a small one from IKEA that hangs out of the way in my laundry room. My easiest, simplest tip is to do a little house keeping every day to easily keep up on my home. Most tasks only take a minute or two , others may 5, 10 or 15 minutes, and its done for a while. Like vacuuming. We had a big Halloween party over the weekend and I vacuumed our great room in just a few minutes, and reset the space back to normal. It was very quick and easy. Today, I'm taking care of any trash and recycling that needs to go out. tfs 🥰🍂🍃🍁🦃🌬️🌛🧡💗✝️🥰🍂🍃🍁🦃🌬️🌛🧡💗✝️🥰🍂🍃🍁🦃🌬️🌛🧡💗✝️

Great ideas thanks Benita. As someone who doesn't wear white, and therefore doesn't have separate washes, I put my dirty laundry straight into the machine, instead of in a laundry basket. It is one less item of furniture, and when it is full, the Eco egg is already in there, so I can just pop the machine on. Saves time! Love your videos

Am I the only one that forgets Benita uploads every two weeks (not weekly) and then gets worried that something has happened to her when you don't see a new video when you expect it? LOL - so relieved to realize all is well. Another lovely video. Tip: I save every small box that comes into my house. The little ones jewelry comes in are really useful as drawer dividers. I couldn't sort my desk drawers out without them. I store washi tape in the plastic trays that sesame crackers come in. They are made in rows of half-barrel shapes that fit rolls of tape perfectly. I too find that moving the stuff on the floor is the part of vacuuming I like the least. I'm slowly getting stuff up off the floor but it's a constant battle with cords, cat toys and craft projects.

One of my least favorite chores is ironing; I also bought a steamer and prefer that when blouses and other items need the wrinkles removes. I do still have my iron but I got rid of my ironing board. I rarely iron but when I do I simply place a towel on my butcher block island table and iron on that; it's fine for pants and summer dresses. As a 67 year old, I also keep clutter off the floor. This includes little rugs that slide. Items like this can be a hazard. Thanks so much. I look forward to your Christmas decorating ideas.

The video brings you down after watching some other you tube films, whose authors make an impression of Olympic dogs rushing to the end of the film, as if there were a big fat sausage over there. I would never dare to give your advices. But me myself took away the small rug in front of the bed. It is realy dust and cats hair accumulator. I also hang some shelves thus reducing a trivial piece of furniture - bed side table. The cables may be put in a wooden box with a cover, so it is easier to "undust" the cables. best regards from your devote admirer...claud

1. I keep rolls of trash bags in my trash except for the kitchen trash of course. But in the bathroom and the living room trash can it is very useful to have the bags right under your actual bag so you don't have to look for them every time you change your bag. And in the kitchen trash I put some wadded newspaper pages on the bottom to soak up fluids that might get through and change them out from time to time. 2. I wrap some washi tape around all of my charging cables to keep track on what cable belongs to which device. Same with cables that are in extension cords and you can't see which device is attached to which cable.

I also like to hang everything. In our bathroom & downstairs toilet we also use a hanging waste basket and toilet brush, and we hang the potty that our toddler uses on the wall. Way easier to clean in there when everything’s off the floor! My most recent additions are two small laundry baskets (they’re actually IKEA waste baskets meant for hanging inside a kitchen cabinet) on the wall in the corner of each staircase to collect laundry that needs to be taken to the attic throughout the day so it doesn’t collect on the stairs instead. They have two little slits on top that are very convenient for holding a large laundry bag.

I don’t know what a candle sharpener is either! It has to be something ingenious if you have found room in your home for it. A video on candles and how you use them/decorate with them would be lovely.
@FrogeniusW.G.3 жыл бұрын
@@youtimeful I think a candle-sharbener works like a pencil-sharpener and is for candles, which have lost their upper part of the (already burned) wick by breaking. But that's just my assumption. 😅 The burnt wick of a candle is a very fragile part, but at the same time, it's the upper part and what you need to light the candle. Most (all?) people I know (Germany), throw their candles away, if the burnt/upper wick is gone. Even if the candle has still all its wax. Such a pitty. And as I've learned thrue the years is, that swedish culture has got many very wise/reasonable tools/inventions/habits. ☆

I love all your hook, caster and wheel ideas. I lay my cushions for the back of my sofa down at night. It keeps my dog off the couch and gravity keeps my pillows looking full. I keep most cleaners in the hall; but the borax in the bathroom with the bath tub for quicker cleaning. I keep nothing under the beds, so the roomba can clean without me having to move things. I had a cabinet added to my bench so I could store extra pillows for the sofa (for get togethers). I recently purchased a microwave/convection after about eight years of not having one. I kept the two different types of trivets with napkins for covering food to prevent splatter inside of the microwave oven. (One trivet is required for use in it.) I found myself moving them each time I used the micro. So, I put the napkins on a simple white platter that conceals them on top of the oven and the trivets in the closest lower cabinet that conveniently has an upper shelf (so I don't have to lean over to get them). We are supposed to be moving soon, so I will have to remember this trick.

A place for everything was something that totally helped when I started on my minimalism journey and since I want to get a robot vacuum to clean more often because of my cats, getting stuff off the ground is a must 😁 and also making sure it can go around the furniture 😅

Getting things off the floor is huge!! I love how you divided your hall closet. I feel the same way about steaming versus ironing; need a new steamer! So excited your blog is back!! ❤️

Update: For some reason, I can’t seem to comment on your blog. I enter my name and email and tap Done on my keyboard but nothing happens. (Left URL blank.) I don’t see a button to post. This is all on mobile/my phone. Am I missing something? I see others commenting so I must be missing something, thanks!

I so wish one day to finally declutter our home and make it comfortable for living (and also for me to maintain it). So far struggling to implement at least some decluttering and minimalist ideas. Does not work well with my husband and kids🤷🏻♀️

Have you tried challenging your husband with the minimalism game?

Can you please explain/ demonstrate/ show more about the thing you used to cut your ironing board and the closet divider. I don’t think we have an instrument like that in the states. Very intriguing. All the best ❤️
