One tip I have- always be on the lookout for things not used in a very long time. Chances are that if you haven't used it, then you don't need it and it just takes up unnecessary space. If you find you miss it, then you can always bring it back. Nine times out of ten, you won't even think about it again.

I have found that containing like products in my fridge (in clear containers) keeps my fridge so much cleaner. Any spills/messes are contained. Hope you're feeling well! What a great video. When it comes to optimizing my home, there's one big thing that my husband and I do: Tidy as we go. As my grandmother used to say: "A place for everything and everything in its place." It's wonderful advice. When we're done with an activity, all items go back to their intended place. It takes only a few seconds and only requires that you be conscientious, but it has such an impact on visual clutter. It helps that we don't have a lot of stuff to start with! I never have to worry about whether the house is presentable. We never have big messes to contend with, never have to rush around in the evenings cleaning, and our once-a-week deep clean takes a grand total of 45 minutes-about the length of a good podcast episode.

Thank you for the tips Benita. You are a very handy woman. I wouldn’t attempt to make anything like a shelf, nor do I have the tools. Your cat in the closet!! 😍 Now I know why you didn’t close the door! Do you collect your coffee grounds? You could use the same jar or tin in your sink. You can collect the used ones in a small container. You probably know already but it’s good for the garden. Just don’t put it on seedings and be sure to spread it out and mix into soil. Your cute little kitty was a nice surprise in your closet! I also keep socks by the front door, even though that’s in my living room. Even if I’m wearing socks I might need different ones to go with a different style of shoe so it saves me racing to the bedroom in the back of the house when I’m in a hurry to leave. I wish I had a proper entranceway - we repurposed one of our fireside bookcases as an entryway zone because out front door opens right into the middle of the living room.

I’m not a minimalist by a long shot but as we are mid renovations I can re work how I want things so it works for us and makes life easier. I still have to work ( luckily it’s at 4-8am) and I wash my uniform as soon as I get in. I have work stuff in my work fleece jacket ie) locker let, name badge, wipe board markers a very small pen etc and when I remove them I place them in a pretty mug I received as a birthday gift. It just keeps them in one place and usually I remember to put everything back in my pocket once it is washed. Can’t wait to get back to once a week washes instead of three times a week.
