1. But I might need that someday! 2. We paid for it 3. I'm planning to fix it one of these days 4. I'm attached to it; it's hard to explain 5. That's my backup plan if the internet goes down 6. It's not clutter, it's organized chaos 7. Why fix what isn’t broken? It’s been fine for years 8. This could be valuable in a few years 9. Wow, I didn’t even remember we had that "Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify." (Henry David Thoreau)

My MIL died a few years ago and she was a rat packer! Her house & storage house was full of antiques (junk) ! When she died it was our job to get rid of it--the majority of the family did not want any of it! I had a similar tendency to hoard! Loved thrift store shopping had scads of old books & magazines! Things I was going to renovate or thought I might need one day! And clothes, shoes etc I had two walk in closets full! Whoa! I suddenly realized no one is going to want my junk either--that was taking up space and energy? After my husband died I started decluttering! That was three years ago and I’m still shedding the stuff! I’m also going to sell my 2200 SF home with the intention of down sizing! It feels good to declutter and reduce the over spending tendency! I wish I’d done it years ago! ❤😊

Thank you for sharing your story. Your journey towards decluttering, especially after such a significant loss, is incredibly moving. It's never easy to part with personal items, especially when they hold memories. Best wishes on your continued journey of decluttering ❤😊

Thank you so much for this video. I'm in the chaos of decluttering. I'm having trouble with making decisions about what to let go of. I'm old so it takes me longer to get things done but I do some every day. Your videos are calming and help very much. I've been reading up on Swedish death cleaning, I don't want to leave a bunch of stuff for my son to have to deal with when I pass on.

Thank you for your lovely comment. It's great that you're making progress every day. The book about "Swedish death cleaning" is very good, I also recently read it. Best wishes on your decluttering journey. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you so much. I recognize many of your husband’s arguments as for me attempts to declutter always hit a roadblock. I love your gentle and calm approach to decluttering and addressing your husband’s concerns and feelings. It’s as if you were talking to me. I am hoping through your suggestions I will finally make the effort and succeed. It is overwhelming but so, so necessary. Once again, thank you.

Thank you for these videos. You have a lovely home and I envy your kitchen counter being free of stuff! Having inherited "stuff" from parents and grandparents it is tough to let go of something that once held meaning for those people who are no longer with us. Still, it must be done.

Lol I really did get use out of my dvds and cds when the internet was down for several days because they were sending a new router and had street repairing to do. Plus I don't waste time scrolling. Depends how you're wired I guess.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I got the day dress a long time ago from C&A, I think it's a Swiss brand. I'm not sure if they sell it in the States. The socks were knit by an old lady, I got them at the local Christmas market. Happy New Year! ✨

Just found your video, how calming this is ! I’m gonna watch more of your videos than go to my closet. I also NEED to declutter some weight, wish me luck with the Whold Food Plant Based way of eating I’m about to embark on… I have 3 pair of really tight jeans but don’t wanna buy larger, so I wear stretchiest so I don’t have to buy bigger jeans ….what would you do? Buy one pair hoping to lose or wait a couple weeks to see if mine get loser ? 🤔
@calmnordic10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! Regarding the jeans dilemma, I'm no expert on that topic, but I like to feel comfortable in what I wear. If my current jeans are too tight and causing discomfort, I would probably invest in a pair that fits me well right now. Have a wonderful day, and Happy New Year! ✨
