I may have to get one of these for my truck camper. Very portable and easy to set up. Thanks for showing this!

Great video! When it comes to solar I prefer to talk and watts because that's how the panels are listed.

Nice and easy hookup. I suppose a person could take a normal charge controller and rig up something similar where there are quick connect input & output lines. I like the size and convenience of the Bateria more though

I use my solar gear for keeping up AGM batteries for portable ham radio gear. Hams have been using Anderson Powerpoles for quite some time now. They come with red and black housings, but if you make up your own Powerpoles, as I do, you can also buy them in white, gray, yellow, orange, green, blue, and purple. Powerpoles are "genderless", that is, they only plug in one way and you can't accidentally connect them in reverse polarity. With SAE, you can end up with a reverse polarity connection in some places, which is why some users of SAE have to use one of those little SAE reverse gizmos. It looks like you are doing this for one of your connections. Also, I use red/black for everything downstream of the solar charge controller... to the battery, to the radio gear, etc. But to help not damage anything, I use green/black for everything from the solar panel to the input of the charge controller. This gives a good visual cue to wake you up to the fact you might be about to damage something. I would like to see this standardized... it is standard, at least, for all of my solar gear.

Hi, this was helpful, but I am still stuck. I have little knowledge of how this all works. I purchased a 260 W portable solar panel to charge my 1000W portable power station. I later learned about needing to buy a solar charge controller, that I purchased on Amazon. It sells for $22. and has the connection ports on the bottom. There are two round plug in holes, one on each side with a pin like post on the inside, and then 6 small square holes in between the two round holes. The square connectors on my solar panel are too large to fit. Plus the instruction diagrams are unclear, looking like there should be two ways to hook it up, one way using the round hole plug and one using two of the square holes. Like I said I am stuck, If you could offer advice, I would be very appreciative. Thanks David

You should not need a charge controller if your power station has a solar input port. Every power station I have ever seen has a charge controller built into it. Just make sure your solar panels rated amps do t exceed the rating the power station can accept.

what a great find. i have a dr. prepare battery with its own anderson solar input, i get ony 100watts with my two lion energy 12 volt 100watt panels. so with this item i can get a possible 200 watts? this would be very useful.

Yes, you could get max what those 2 solar panels can output with this device.

Great video. Thank you. I have a question: Is there a reason you are using a 20 amp controller with such a small battery? Why not use a 10amp controller? wouldn't that be more effeciant? I am still trying to understand what I need for my 100amp lifepo battery and 100 watt panel set up. Is a 10amp controller too small?
@GearGadgetReviews3 ай бұрын
This will charge up to 20amps if enough solar is available. I did t want to limit myself to only 10 amps of charging. Most lifepo4 batteries can take at least 50amps of charging current. 👍🏻

20 amps is typical charge rate for a 100Ah battery.

Brian , I see this unit is not offered with Bluetooth anymore off amazon or the website? is this going to stay that way? I reached out to the company and have not heard back yet.

The battery is not Bluetooth, just the charge controller

Something to be aware of with this unit is it's rated for up to 20 amps, but I'm here to tell you the SAE connectors and wires they're using should NOT have 20 amps run through them, for extended periods of time! SAE is an abbreviation for the Society of Automotive Engineers. Those connectors are made for no more than 10 to 15 amps, continuous. In my personal experience, they are best restricted to no more than 10 amps. This product is marketed on its portability and convenience, but with just a little know-how, you can make something that is just as portable, just as convenient, and even more capable, at a little more than half the price. In fact, you can put something together for 1/4 of the price that is dead simple, although not as efficient. I would call this a very good product, for people who don't know better and don't want to.

so simple charger.. only if they made 30 to 40 amps and with some USB C ports on it or a USB A fast charger since i like the sturdy on a big USB A feels more locked down dont get easily pulled off compared to a USB C

This is an MPPT controller for solar panels, and not meant to be a standard ac charger.
