@@DeadBrokeBBQ When you build it, make sure you have the firebox exactly as shown and keep the pit level. Most issues come from those 2 things. @DeadBrokeBBQ
@DeadBrokeBBQ 2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I do not recall anyone talking about that. Mine is fine, do you have something not lined up correctly? Something blocking the grease flow? I get very little grease in the bottom of my chamber, in this video the reason why I had a lot of grease in it was from those 6 big pork butts I did. Almost seems like you have some obstruction or a hole near the latch rivets? Weird bro! I would call Pit Boss and see what they have to offer?? Oh is the pit level? In the past when I ran all of mine outside the pitch in the cement would not get the grease to flow if I had it tilted towards the hopper. Let me know if you figure it out! Ricer thanks for the videos, been watching most of them! Had a question about adding smoke to the inside of a grill. I read and hear a lot of bbq guys talk about how an older smoker can be better than an identical newer one because of years of smoke baked into the steel, with that in mind would it make any sense to light some smoke tubes in my 2 week old pellet grill when I’m not using it just to bake some extra smoke into the steel? Or would that just be a waste of pellets? Just an idea that occurred to me, let me know your thoughts.
@DeadBrokeBBQ
@DeadBrokeBBQ 2 жыл бұрын
Waste of time if you ask me. I would just run it on smoke mode longer for each cook. A good seasoned pit is typically an offset IMO. But I never scrape down the chamber in my pellet grills unless the seasoning is starting to peel some. That will happen when you very the pit really hot or grill a lot on it. But if you want to add a smoke tube go for it, just going to add more smoke. Thanks for watching brother!

That one brush that you said that was wore out, when I got my brush like it, it was saying to dip it into water to keep it from clogging up,does it actually work by doing that?
@DeadBrokeBBQ
@DeadBrokeBBQ 2 жыл бұрын
Hot water works to clean it up. But typically we just hit it with the garden hose with some pressure. Plus I hit the grates after I am done while they are still hot. But I go through so many brushes I don’t mess around much and just replace them.

@@DeadBrokeBBQ I will hit with a brush after meat is ready and go over it again the next time I crank it up.

My 11 year old nephew ended up “cleaning” my grill with a hose and water. Didn’t as much clean as it did ruin my igniters. 😢

Any recommendations for someone who accidentally washed their flame broiler on a pit boss? I inherited one and it was completely stove up and wouldn’t budge so I washed it with water and degreaser, *facepalm*

Meh you are all good. Just put it back in there and run it for an hour on high to burn off the chemical!! Thanks for watching Travis!!!

Pit boss Austin xl vs pit boss platinum Laredo? Any opinions
@DeadBrokeBBQ
@DeadBrokeBBQ 2 жыл бұрын
I would pick the Austin XL over the Laredo. The Austin smokes more but the Laredo does have a sear zone. Kind of a flip a coin deal if you ask me.

@@DeadBrokeBBQ interesting, I get both black and blue there. I like that they offer different thicknesses in the gloves. 5m is normally what I use. However I do like the 7m and 9m at times. I use gloves when handling lures and baits for salmon fishing. In the late winter/early spring it gets Damm cold outside fishing. The 9m really helps keep fingers warmer. Especially if you slip a chemical heater pack between the back of your hand and the glove. 👋

@@DeadBrokeBBQ it shows gloves but not the disposable gloves. I like to use them especially when handling hot peppers.

Ya and all this extra crap doesn't help it control the temp difference from left or right anymore than the Elite either. It is actually worse with the temp swings than all of the other pits I have ran this year to be honest.
