This is great video , this is the setup that I’ve been trying to setup what I can’t figure out is I would basically have to have 5 stripes tied to one decoder for zone 1 and 4 stripes tied to decoder for zone 2 and 4 strips tied decoder for zone 3 . I do realize I will have to do power injection on the strips but not sure if a decoder can handle that many strips . Wasn’t sure if I needed a decoder for each strip ? That would be a lot my strips are sk6812 rgbw 5v strips any advise would be appreciated

Hey Rob I was happened to find this video saw your question and did some digging on that and came up with this. The TLDR: Max is 32 Fixtures (lights/strips) There are two major ways to wire a DMX LED control system. These are: Daisy-chaining and DMX splitting. The Daisy Chain This method entails wiring every fixture from a loop out of the previous fixture, to create a line of fixtures connecting to the DMX receiver, decoder or console. If you’re daisy-chaining, rember the ’32 Fixture Rule’ - You can only connect up to 32 fixtures in one daisy-chain. Any more than that, and your circuit may not be able to achieve the signal strength required for DMX communications. In practice, it’s best to leave some headroom. Try to keep DMX daisy-chains in the range 16-32 lighting fixtures, because some units can be heavier than others in the amount of power they draw. Splitting DMX If more than 32 units need to communicate, the network can be expanded using DMX splitters. The DMX splitter basically copies the DMX output multiple times. Start off with ignore my crappy spelling. Standard is usually blue it’s positive white blue is negative. White brown is negative. Brown is positive. This would be the same thing I use when I’m doing security cameras with Poe so that means you’re using pens one and two and seven and eight is power. Standard RG 45 punched out would be white, orange, orange, white green, blue white green white brown brown. So then how often do I need to do power injection and how much power do I put to that injection without causing any issues? Usually when doing custom homes I pre-wire everything ahead of time so I have access to the attic before all insulation has been ran so I would like to be able to put all cables in the right spot before hand. Small house that I usually work on is 50 to 60,000 ft.² for a small house largest house I've ever done is over 110,000 ft.² I do to some smaller houses such as 12,000 to 15,000 . So one pre-wire and I just need to know how far apart I need to keep my power injection. Please go through that a little bit more thorough and some more details would be appreciated. I'm assuming if I'm using a 5 V LED strip 5V at so many feet do I need to know where that would be as well as if I was doing a 12 V strip or 24 V strip. But if I'm using active LED strips that are programmable with either WLED or your unit I need to know what the difference of features would . Otherwise you're doing a really good job explaining just a little bit more detail would be nice years of experience and wiring started with home theater in the early 90s. I understand the stuff pretty well, but I always have time to learn more to meet things I can do so please go through a little bit more detail on some of the special functions of this unit house if it is easier to use than WLED then I'll go that way, but I want the special features of some of the lighting effects that I can do.

Hey, this could be many possible things. First thing to check would be loose connections. Other things to consider would be if the two signal wires are terminated with a 120ohm resister. Hope this helps!
