This reminds me of the Polish Story I used to listen to when I was a kid. It was Colargol, a small bear who always wanted to sing. He traveled to a kingdom of bird, where he met an eagle, who gave him a flute (small and slender like a straw) to sing. He blew it but he swallowed it by accident, it got stuck in his throat but he was able to sing beautifully afterwards. It's a cute little story before bedtime since it involves signing his famous song at the end.

I was like 5 or so videos in & just subscribed! I love your videos Sam! I see your passion through your videos & so many people who are already singers or who aren't singers yet but want to be will help them in so many ways. I love to sing but my voice sucks but when I do sing, I sing with my heart which I believe is the most important thing when singing is having heart & passion! When I sing I feel so many beautiful emotions. It's a passion of mine I've had since I was a little girl & now I'm 40. I don't want to be famous. I used to sing in my Church Worship team but don't anymore because I had a Son with Autism & after that didn't have any time to make it to church practices, my life just got so busy & I put music on hold to be the Mother I am today because my kids are my life although I never stopped singing completely...I still sang here & there with solo performances at church or just at home in my shower or going to Karaoke...I never fully let it go completely. U know, I love singing to God with my whole heart & just singing in general. I'm so glad I came across your videos because you're an inspiration to me even though I've only watch like 5 videos. Thank u for the amazing tips I've seen so far, greatly appreciated Sam. I also have a couple of video suggestions: Reviewing random youtubers covers songs, suprising subscribers with vocal lessons & video the process to post on your channel that would be awesome to watch. Thank u again Sam for your passion that u share with others...I don't see your criticism as a bad thing, I see it as being helpful to us who are learning so Thank u so much. Best Wishes this 2020 New Year on your channel & in your life! I look forward to watching more videos as well as watching more that you've posted in the past!

I have a nasty tendency of raising my layrnx and pushing to reach higher head voice tones and this is really helping to keep everything super easy and free. It even gives me more balance in the reat of my voice

Recently I've been through my first experiences with teaching, for the first two weeks I struggled a lot because I was too nervous and didn't have much control of my voice so I felt like I spent a entire day speaking even though it was just a couple of hours. Finding this channel really helped me to understand how avoid this tiredness and vocal damage. Now I think using straw could help me a lot since one of the most difficult to me is control how much air I'm using and for some reason I try to compensate it raising the volume of my voice which makes no sense and can be really painful when I have to teach more classes than the usual.

Thanks for explaining this straw technique more in depth, I was curious about it. I have a passion for singing, but my job also requires me to talk a lot, sometimes to students, and I often end up with a sore throat, feeling like I'm choking. Two hours of lesson a week can strain my throat for days. I have fibromyalgia, so my muscles, including throat muscles, are tense *all the time*, no matter what, sometimes I even hurt myself swallowing food or water because the muscles won't relax when they should. This technique looks a bit like yoga for the throat, I'll try it out :)

Does it matter what kind of straw I'm having if I can't really buy that particular one?
@roygalaasen5 жыл бұрын
I think he showed a bag of plastic straws in the beginning of the video. Also he said that wider straws are better for practise through water, so I think any straws will do. The reason the straw he is using is good is that it doesn’t pollute as it can be used over and over again. I never heard about this practise technique so I don’t know what the width has for impact. Obviously gives more resistance the smaller the hole is but it seems resistance is not the point. That you are doing it wrong if you push too hard.
@Ilonah835 жыл бұрын

Mirja Ilona Korhonen haha! Pasta probably works just fine! Plastic is hard to find anywhere in the world at the moment. Even if paper technically pollutes way more. I guess it dissolves better in the ocean though... Edit: you can edit your own comments. Just click the tree dots beside your comment (on phone) and choose edit. I have no issue with spelling errors as long as I understand the meaning. I make plenty myself. Edit 2: I had a friend once with your last name. He was half Finish, half Norwegian.
