Google "szynalski tone generator", it generates a purer sound than piano. You certainly will be able to hear if you're in tune.
@Michael-hj9fx5 жыл бұрын
I've tried tone generators, but it doesn't help. I suspect the problem is the difference in timbre. Pitch monitoring apps seem to be helping though.
@kater45135 жыл бұрын
@@Michael-hj9fx I can't see your answer anymore but I'll reply anyway Try one of the following: 1. If you for example set the tone generator to C3, try C2 and C4 instead. 2. While attempting to match the generated tone, try slightly going up and down with your voice's pitch while holding the note. Kind of like a police siren or so. You should feel if you're in tune or not.

I'll never understand why I can hum songs perfectly but once I open my mouth to project it, I lose pitch and just generally suck. I also find it easier to sing instrumental parts vs. actual lyrics or voices.
@rickelvi4 жыл бұрын
When you hum you don't have to worry about vowel placement, projection or anything like that, so it's usually easier. Same reason for the instrumental parts, you don't have to worry about the idiosincrasies of speech and can focus only on the pitch.

My uncle used to say my songs were pitchy, and I really had no clue. Spent 11 months, practically tone deaf, other than these videos I train myself... then about 3 weeks ago, I srarted to hear it and learned voice placement by discovery. I also found some extremely helpful tips in an article which is to sit or stand straight, chin tilted down for my middle/low voice, raise my eyebrows for high notes, temporarily flex the chest at the exact moment I need to sing a powerful note. It dramatically decreased the difficulty of singing. My better sung songs on smule went from an average of about 25 likes to 200 likes. I think the most important things. for newer singers to do is practice alot, and experiment with sounds, volume, techniques, because... you know, chasing cars and enter sandman are sung differently. Vowel sounds are especially important, so one knows how to use vowels at different pitches... like could be singing high notes and get a word like eyes that makes your voice want to sing lower. So focus on that weakspot by saying eyes in different ways. Two solutions off the top of my head that beginners can do is to either sing eyes quickly... don't hold the note.. or sing it quietly. If it is a love song, by bryan adams, quietly would be the way. Quiet is the love volume, I've learned. Edit: If you can control vibrato, that can be uses on a held "eyes" note to avoid losing pitch.

I can hear when I’m singing wrongly and if you can hear it too then you’re not tone deaf, you just don’t know how to control your voice properly!
@MR-vl8bd3 жыл бұрын
@@Anna-cu7iz I agree. When effort is put and the proper technique is applied almost anyone can carry some sort of tune, even if it's just for congregational purposes. Very few people are actually tone deaf. I think most who say they are just compare themselves to actual singers.

I beg to differ Dr. Dan. Singing a pitch at first with help from a prop like a piano, but when it goes flat, how do you that prevent that from happening? With my students, I have them commit that tone into their tonal memory like an actor will commit a line of script to memory before performing on stage. Memory is key. It takes constant practice on that tone and all musical tones until it becomes part of their tonal memory. It can be done. It takes commitment but it can be done. How are all those tones really reinforced in singing, a course in solfeggio.

This is fine if you can hear the notes and understand that you are singing it wrong or right. For me - I already have great pitch recognition. I have a new student who has problems hearing the pitch and correcting the pitch as he is singing the scale. I'm not one for using apps - but if I can find an app that recognises vocal pitch and tells me (or my student) what note they are actually singing - this will help them when I'm not there to tell them whether they are sharp, flat or way off.

Laughter is a by product. Also let me know if you can sustain any sound in pitch for 3 SECONDS. I will give you $100. If you can’t. You give me $10. You get as many tries as you want.
