Stethoscope, I'd say! Totally nailed the essence of what is one of the great vocal arrangement from the early part of the Beatles' stellar career. Always a fave!

I totally agree with you. It's mindblowing what they were able to come up with at 18 and we often forget that when they split they were about 28... Thanks for the kind words BTW.
@Merseyrock12 жыл бұрын
Your work helps, among other things, to appreciate more fully just HOW INCREDIBLY talented these guys really were!!! Ok, let's forget the instruments - just focus on their voices. With no conservatory training, and honing their skills in dingy cellars, it's mindblowing what they were able to come up with at - what? 18?? (Their grasp of polyphony and counterpoint is instinctually dead on!) And this recreation is...simply breath-taking. Thank you! for posting.

Thank you. Your beark downs (disection) of songs show how much work and talent the Beatles really put into many a Beatle song. They were truly master craftman in the art of music!

Well done, Galeazzo. You nailed it. I already knew the parts and came here by accident. But I must admit, your lesson is accurate and valid. Early Beatles vocals were classic and internalized by the band. They worked constantly, gigged regularly and were masters of harmonies, even in the early days.

I've got to get up and go to work in 6 hours, but instead of getting my sleep, I'm watching and listening to you. You are so talented, and I love learning about the harmonies. I have a question: At the end of your video, you show us 5 vocal harmonies. How did The Beatles do that back in the days of only two track recording? Or did they have four track recording back then. Even if they had four track, how did they do five vocal parts?

Hello Galeazzo. Very good job on the video. I have a few things to point out. Maybe you will give me your opinion on them: 1. On George's vocals on the bridge, doesn't he sing "Home, you're going home" instead of the "ah-ha" like Paul and John? At least I'm sure I hear the lower vocals singing the same as John's main on that part. 2. On the ending I can really only hear 2 vocals. The ones you identify on the video as 1st and 2nd vocals. I can't heard the 3rd at all (the one where the note doesn't change from the "you"). I can hear the one you identify as 4th, but that's played by a guitar. Same for the 5th one, also played by a guitar right near the end. Best regards, Diogo

Overdubbed. They had some space because there's very little instrumentation at the end taking up tracks, so they could strengthen their vocal tracks at the end. Remember, even with four tracks George Martin did some bouncing to free up more tracks (such as mixing several tracks down to one, freeing up space) I did the same thing all the time with my own 4 track back in the 80s. George Martin made the most of what he had technology-wise

SO good was the creative alchemy in this team of five, that is it almost impossible to believe Holy Christ had nothing to do with it. The beauty and joy just keep giving in a way no other musical act of that era can begin to compare with. Perhaps Bowie was thinking abut their other-worldy genius when he conceived of his Starman - a character just arriving fully formed from another planet.
