Axl is definitely one of the top 5 of the greatest vocalists who have ever lived, he may ruined his voice a bit, but in his prime - something like that just doesn’t exist anymore.

The videos that you see of people claiming he lost his voice aren't actually correct. Every video I've seen making this claim he is singing in falsetto. He does this to protect his voice. Maybe because he has a cold or has hurt his voice and doesnt want to further ruin it.. It doesn't require the power or presence to hit the same notes. (It also doesnt sound near as good) So in reality it is the opposite. He hasn't ruined his voice he just knows when to not push it in order to preserve it.

axl rose actually has a very low voice, hes like a bass-baritone which is incredible considering his incredible high range, just watch him speak in interviews hes super bassy, i was really surprised, but there are others, take phil from pantera, the guy could rock extremely high notes back in his legging days and he speaks like a drunk bouncer lol Im a dark baritone and i allmost sound like a tenor next to these guys
@kjdskgj2 жыл бұрын
Yup... Many guys think that having a lower voice is a curse, but it's the opposite actually. When you have a low voice, you can train your head voice to go crazy high, but if you have a naturally high voice, there's really nothing you can do to go lower. So the biggest ranges belong to guys that have low natural voices usually.

"If people are telling you to build strength, f*** that man." Yes! The strength is brought in later once the coordination is settled. The vocal folds are such tiny muscles - if anything, by trying too hard to "support" (although what many people do is actually not supporting but pushing and straining unnecessarily), many people end up losing their voices or not accessing their true range.

Just up watching the soccer ⚽️ world cup AUSTRALIA v ARGENTINA. so first comment . One thing I noticed about Axel's voice when he talks is very deep ..like a bass really. So the voice he usually uses is way out of his speaking range . People always said he sang in falsetto. Those people weren't singers . Usually the media . If you've been on KZbin trying to master these styles. You soon realise it's a mix he uses. Love your work. Thanks again

question is... did Axl take singing lessons b4 GnR? Or did he just stumble upon ways to sing in that high strained sound? Who of the great "metal" singers actually took any singing lessons? I'd like to know. Dio? I never heard of him taking singing lessons. Dickinson? Be nice to know something like that just to see what % were just not really trained via someone else trying to teach them how. I feel as if it would be MOST of the singers being non-trained or at least early on in their careers but what do I know?
@SterlingRJackson Жыл бұрын
Well, it’s hard to know that info. I’m not a trained singer and I’ve never had a vocal lesson. But I bought courses wayyy back and learned from trial and error. Mixed voice and that higher stuff was more prominent in the 80s so I think more singers were finding their way there for better or worse.
@TruthSurge Жыл бұрын
@@SterlingRJackson well, I think many singers were not formally trained who sang in rock bands and it didn't keep them from killing it. But on the flip side, sometimes I hear a modern singer do a vowel modification and it literally sounds bad because it is no longer an E but an I or AH sound. I have learned to listen for that and sometimes it just sounds too modified for my tastes. Like instead of "you", they sing "yo". I guess it's just an attempt at a larger, louder, open sound in a rock context. good vids, man! good job on the like a stone cover, too.

@SterlingRJackson2 жыл бұрын
Mix. Axl is always mixing 😬
@Timliu92 Жыл бұрын
That is mixed voice. It just sounds really thin but it is powerful and still projects rather nicely especially with a microphone. Mix does not have to sound as full - it can sound headier as well (in this case Axl's leans towards the headier side). You will never sing like Axl Rose if you use falsetto or pure head voice - if anything you are most likely going to sound like the Bee Gees at best with it.

Cool video, gonna give it a try. But not now because it's 1:30 AM :P My natural voice is low. So low that I can't even use it :P.. But serious I've trained myself to have a higher voice than I originally have, always talking in headvoice. It's stupid that it's even hard to speak in my original chest voice because 1: It's not that loud. 2. people can't understand me that good especially older people. 3.it's very monotone 4. I don't really know how to do it any more, and I will get into my "fake" voice automatically. But my "fake" voice that I've been using for over 25 years or so, hurts while speaking to long. I never speak longer than a couple of minutes straight, but if I speak for about 10 minutes straight it's not comfortable anymore and I get sore and start to crack-up (losing my voice). I had an appointment with the doctor about it and she refered me to a "voice doctor" but the waiting time was for months and months, so I didn't go. I can get very low and very high (It could get from a very low male voice to a very high female voice kind of range), but the last few years the higher place is getting lower and lower, and I can't reach the high notes that I used to (There's just no sound comming out anymore)
