One thing I've noticed about his voice is he utilizes zero vibrato. If he sings long notes he doesn't do the easy thing where you add vibrato, he just forces it regardless if it kills him.

@@missunique65 I’m not wrong, check it yourself. I’m sure he’s said on multiple occasions he writes the songs for himself, then if Liam struggles or it doesn’t sound as good then he drops the key down a bit. That’s what he’s claimed. I think that second part is false tho, because he hardly ever raises the key on songs in solo shows. So to me, that all says he writes the songs for himself then just hands them to liam to sing. You’d have to share the exact video. Also why say doofus? Don’t be a prick

Liam, in my opinion, needs a co-writing credit. Sure, Noel writes the songs melodies and all, but it’s Liam’s OWN voice and it’s nothing like Noel’s original phrasing and melodies, and it’s Liam’s voice that MAKE the songs. And makes them absolute classics.

Oasis have loads of fans still. Most of them are obsessed with Liam. It would be great if you could do an indepth video on his voice and how it was damaged over the years. You'd get a lot of views! You say that he changed his voice but that was out of necessity. His signing voice was reall rough and croaky and he could barely hit any notes after the first few years. I think it was something to do with his singing style and lifestyle. But you'd obviously be able to really hone in on it.

I'm from Manchester and the music scene here has a plethora of Oasis style bands and singers, and I've always wanted to borrow elements of his Lydon/Lennon style without sounding like I'm trying to imitate him - so this video has been super helpful! Great analysis! I´ve always liked Oasis but thought of Liam as a rather rough and uncomplicated singer (not in a bad way, just that he´s pretty straight forward so to speak). Haven´t listened so much to his later stuff though and realise now that he´s not only a lot more refined than I thought, but also that I like his "older" voice a lot more.

4:40 is 95% of what you need to know to understand Liam's vocals ... Aggressive. He attacks songs. Just watch him recording Step Out. Combined with his accent and method of trying to create a straight line from his lungs to his mouth, which sort of pushes the jaw out and creates a bit of gravel. Plus the way he pulls his lips back, which is part of his aggressive style. Throw copious amounts of booze, cigarettes and coke at that and you get Liam's vocals. Trust me, his voice isn't entirely intentional. It's part of the reason he's knackered his voice but it's totally worth it.

I think so, he had vocal problems as early as 96, theres a particular concert in USA where he was mid song and said "i cant, sorry when i sing is like punching a wall and i cant, is f**ed up", i dont know if it was the shouting, the posture or his overall habits while singing but he had a massive change after Be here now (got rid of shouting almost entirely). It was also around that time that noel started to sing more songs like shes electric, probably becase liam was not able to hit A4 and G4 as easily as before. Most of this i learned watching the documentary "supersonic"

Wonder how much his mic style affects his nasal sound. He seems to sing underneath the mic with his nose closer to and directed towards the mic.

What do you think in the liam voice that male him change the way of sing along time? Maybe alcohol, or the way he sing destroys the voice..

I don't think it was/is bad technique in and of itself. I think it has been alcohol and overuse!

@@chrisliepe Bit late but I think it was the way he sang for example an oasis tribute band in the 90s which actually become very popular in the 90s the singer actually developed the same problems as Liam with Hashimotos disease.

Easy, just steal a lower class accent and don't be very good at it. For example, "All the people, so many people" becomes "Aww da pay-poowl, sow men-ay pay-poowl". If it doesn't sound patronising enough, just exaggerate more.
