Really love your approach of taking “imitation” of cats, crows, etc. to illustrate how singers get certain sounds. “I’ll get you my pretty!” There’s a lot to play with in the voice. Singers that have unique color and textures in their approach captivate us. Love how you break it down in ways that allow you to use these techniques without killing the voice.

I first watched this video of yours years ago and I often think of it while listening to Thom Yorke vocals. Your knowledge of the wide spectrum of sound I'm the human voice and your skill in identifying the individual characteristics is incredible! AND you're an awesome teacher- conveying and demystifying the vocalizations of some of the most fascinating singers. Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge! ❤

Simply put, if Thom Yorke is self though musician and vocalist, and perform on that level of mastery, he has to be a genius.

This is the best video of vocal teatching i've ever seen in my life (and i've seen a lot), you made me discover an area of my voice that i thought i could not reach, not even in the next years of studying!!! i love radiohead and thom yorke too, so that was amazing!

The way that you really give your whole heart and really make yourself vulnerable in this videos is courageous as hell and SO helpful. You are a person who is really living your way into your potential. MUCH respect. I am learning a lot about singing but a lot about being your whole self as well. Great stuff.

Thank you so much! I mean it. I've loved Thom Yorke since the first time I listened to a Radiohead song and I could never understand what was so amazing about his style or why he was so unique. “voices in my head” starts to transition into Korn’s Jonathan Davis as you exaggerate it especially the bright tone. Your next example definitely has some Beck in it. I can hear (going back to Axl vs Bellamy) what you mean about how looking at one singer can help you understand another!

Makes perfect sense. I wish I had a trained voice like this. for some people this comes more naturally than others. It's very frustrating though trying to get this when it's not coming out with a similar tonal clarity. this is something I've always wanted & never achieved on my own. I can keep pitch & hav always been able to do that but I can't get vibrato no mater how many times I've tryed... I put my daughter in vocal lessons & in one year she has this beautiful vibrato and an iconic voice. I believe people's vocal anatomy determines wether or not they will be a good vocalist. Sadly I'm beginning to accept that that could well be the case for me which us disheartening because I'm passionate about music...

This was such a great video, because I love Thom's voice! You're the first vocal coach I've found that has helped me to unlock parts of my voice that I had no idea existed. The first that I watched of this series was when you analysed Jeff Buckley, and that made so many connections for me vocally that built more confidence in my sound. Your lessons have also been a tremendous help for voice acting, as I enjoy doing a large range of characters and sounds, and your videos contribute to that as well. You also have such a confident, yet laid back approach that allows you to do things like the wicked witch, or a crazy clown on camera without breaking. Have you ever done, or thought about doing voice acting?! Also, I would love to see you do a video on Glen Hansard! I've watched Once so many times, and the music from that movie was a big influence on my interest in singing. From The Frames, to The Swell Season, to his solo albums, that man is a legend! Glen is just as awesome live too! Thank you Chris for everything you do, you have some of the best content on KZbin! You're helping so many people find confidence in their voice so that they may feel a little closer to achieving their dreams! Keep up the great work; I'm excited to see what you roll out with next! :>)

Hey, Chris! Thank you very much for all the great content, I've learned so much. I found out about you before 3 months. I took seriously singing and i started training my voice, alone, just from youtube videos. You were the one that helped me let my voice free to hit the hight notes effortlessly. Im not saying that im perfect but i know what im doing, when im at home. Yesterday i had a gig, just me and my guitar and i played 2 hours. Before the gig i sang 3 hours at home and everything was fine. When i went for the sound check i started panicking because i couldnt hear myself clearly(I didnt have a stage monitor just the sound from the speakers). I started pushing harder to hit the high notes and got tired. Can you make a video on live singing? What to do before the performance and on stage. Again, thank you very much 😊

Seems like i found a new answer with this video. But still have a few another questions and can't realise what to do.. At some point, when i'm going from "chest" to "head" (or backwards) my voice doesn't breaks. It just disappears and i'm going to whisper 'till i'll make some kinda ugly head-voice sound. I guess it's not a rare trouble, maybe even you had something like this? Can you tell anything about it? p.s. Would like to see video like this about Jonathan Davis from Korn (or solo). He uses a lot of interesting tricks. Sadly i couldn't find any info about making "scat" outside jazz music (and there it's something different in comparsion with metal). The "Twist" is a bright example of it. Another song with interesting lines is the "Holding all this Lies". Also a new album "The Nothing" is great tho.

Another great video. Your channel is teaching me so much about making noise and exploring my voice, it's great. Totally bonkers and great.
