The 2 sweetest ladies on KZbin tackling one of the most frustrating things a musician can attempt! Cool! I suggest using a kazoo before you advance to the singing stage of the adventure (or just humming if you don't have a kazoo) It gets the brain used to thinking about 2 things at the same time.

I'd like to play all of them from the 60's (my childhood)... but I'm not there yet. I can sound like most of the singers I grew up listening to (that had deep voices... I can sound exactly like Meatloaf, but these days I have a hard time talking for a few days afterwards). Thanks for the vid, I think you're both great!

She mentioned learning the song 1st. I listen to my list of songs driving to work and back. You can learn the song and sing on the way. It really helped a lot trying to copy the phrasing of the singer I'm trying to copy. i.e. The lyrics are the same but Willie Nelson's style of singing Rainbow Connection is very different than Kermits!

Where is that clip taken from in the beginning when she says “Ayla can REALLY play the guitar” and then it cuts to Ayla jamming with her and I think her band, and it just sounds like beautiful grooving music. Gotta get into that, I don’t know what it is, just that I loved it and wanted to hear it in its entirety. For such a soft spoken individual, she played that guitar with such ferocity.

It's from her band Ludic I believe, and they seem quite jazzy, fairly progressive and clearly talented

I pick target notes to sing and hit on the fretboard at the same time which works for some songs but not all. I do almost exactly what youre doing here, I pick out the main chords and hum it first. Im not trained and cant even read music.

YES! Ayla jams to the Beatles! Paul McCartney is like my guitar role model in a way. Like him, I also write with my right hand, use scissors with my right hand, but I fire a handgun and shoot pool left-handed, and prefer to use a baseball bat left handed. I'm just starting to try again to pick up guitar. I guess the way my brain is programmed, it's more of a struggle to make sense of it. I look at the strings and tablature, and it just looks backwards to me. I'm still wondering whether to push myself to learn right-handed or flip it like PM. Wish me luck! :D
