When I try to do this, it looks like that but then ends up falling out. Any ideas why this happens? Never used to happen when I had longer hair and did a normal rope braid.

if yo don't twist the hair enough it might fall out and if you twist the hair in the wrong direction, then it can fall out too :D x

How many times do you think is enough to twist the hair to the right before crossing to the left? Both for the french rope braid and the regular one...

I have watched both videos like ten times each and they seem simple enough until I try to do them on my hair, then all hair gets knotted and falls out..

If you twist the strands to the right you have to cross the strands to the left and vice versa
