That's the point. Everything about public education is to make you as powerless and subjugate as possible, from the mental to the physical. Of course they want everyone in crippling pain, that makes for so many customers and a very pliable working class when addictive drugs come into the mix

Anyone who tells you sitting in general is bad knows what they're talking about. It's crazy how people assume that sitting with "good posture" means you won't have any problems ever. Human bodies are NOT designed to sit for prolonged periods of time, we evolved as active hunter-gatherers who were always moving around.

good info... wish I had the option not to sit... driving a semi 11 hours a day doesn't really help... And worse, when I'm not driving I'm still stuck in a moving vehicle while my husband drives... which doesn't allow for much room to stretch or exercise cause we have to be belted in while we're moving... if you had something to help truck drivers who have to sit 11 hours a day in a bouncy seat, I know thousands of people would love to hear it... still gonna share this one to get it out there though... :)

Blake, would you do a video about prolonged sitting in cars (buses, etc.) on long road trips and how often to take breaks, what to do when your destination time prevents one from making frequent stops, the effects of headrests on posture, etc. Tired of having to spend money on Chiropractor after every trip. Bucket seats are particularly bad for posture, as I've found out. Thank you for considering it.

I work 40 hours a week all at a desk in a cushy office chair and have an APT as a result, so thanks for these videos. Question though - do you have any exercise recommendations for weightlifters? I think I'm going to try doing some of the exercises you mention at home, but I already lift 3-4 times per week and personally I'm more likely to stick with something involving weight room equipment. I squat and deadlift heavy 3 times a week, but my tendency to neglect targeting abs combined with you talking about a tight lower back have me thinking deadlifts might actually be detrimental to an anterior tilt.

im getting very tierd in my lower back when i sit straight, but when i adjust my chair to a(lay down position) it feels much better. what should i do
@johna3626
@johna3626 7 жыл бұрын
I have the same problem. What I realised is that sitting straight requires the hip flexors and lower back to be tight. That's a bad thing, because when you stand up, you get an Anterior Pelvic Tilt (Lower Back is flexed, not neutral). * Rewatch the video to remember the cues. When I have the intention of sitting with a good posture, I exaggerate sticking my butt out / flexing lower back. My lower back gets tight as hell as a result. Solution is to put your chest up, then bring the ribcage down. Watch Jeff's video on posture: www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=TQqgf8kB6R8 (Sorry Blake :P) * Do the best you can to walk around for at least 1 minute every 20 minutes of sitting. Your muscles adapt to the position you're in within 20 minutes or so. * Emergency solution: But what if your lower back is killing you during a boring lecture, but you force yourself to sit up straight, but you're too afraid of looking like a fool walking around the classroom? Simply push a fist under your ribs (back of course), until you hit a tender spot. It should release the Quadratus Lumborum. (Just my thoughts though, haven't tried it yet). Also to get some sneaky movement, I like to sit in the back of the classroom, lean back on the chair, and squeeze my glutes. It should stretch the hip flexors a little bit. * Also what helped me after a day at school is to release and stretch the Quadratus Lumborum and Hip Flexors. Releasing simply requires a tennis ball. Search on how to release and stretch them. Also a big point why you should sit properly: Read this article: www(dot)breakingmuscle(dot)com/learn/how-youre-sabotaging-your-posture-and-your-time-in-the-gym . Think back on this article if you're too lazy to sit properly. Good luck.
