This is by far the biggest improvement I have made in a matter of minutes. my sketches transformed from non proportionate masses of mess to decent sketches of the human body in minutes. This will improve my architecture sketches. You make it so much fun. I have been practicing everyday since I found your videos. amazing teacher. Have you a book released as I think you make drawing so enjoyable and joy is very important.

This has helped so much, and it is really fun just drawing the figures! Thank you so much! I always wanted to draw, and used this storyboard for this short I wrote over the course of the Pandemic as my justification to make me do it, but this has made me realize what I was missing and how much I really need to learn. I really appreciate you broke it down to sheer basics and broke it down to what shapes are needed to get a basic idea/start to the drawing/sketch, and I deeply appreciate it since most of the other tutorials where knee-deep (like having to already know the basics like it's nothing) into the drawings/sketch making it really confusing for starters like me. Starting by just drawing the basics is awesome and I love it, and I feel like my use of pen/pencil has improved as well now that I've been just sketching with the basic shapes. Thanks to this tutorial it made me stop my storyboarding, and focus on just getting basic shapes, and basic structures done right first so whenever I feel good enough to draw I can make the storyboard just right, and not rush it. I also love the practice with a pen because it makes me accept my mistakes, and it makes me see what I need to improve on! Again, thank you so much for making drawing at least a little easier to understand for those who don't understand drawing but have a genuine interest in the drawing! Thank you so much for this tutorial!

I have a fairly deep understanding of the human anatomy. I'm familiar with the bone structure as well as the superficial muscles that the artist should know. However, I find it difficult to draw characters in different poses as well as foreshortening. This video helped a lot. Would you recommend practicing just drawing the mannequin to help get different poses down? Thanks. I love your tutorials. They are really helpful.

I see comments with people saying this changed their whole art on drawing people, but I learned this from Micheal Hamptons book and I almost forgot what drawing people and arms were like without using this technique because it’s just so fundamental and I use it on all my drawings. Tons of pros use it by the way like Kim jung gi, Proko, and Jim Lee which just shows how useful it is! So if you haven’t learned this than make sure to put down gesture lines then the shapes so it doesn’t look podgy and stiff!
