My tips while learning how to ski parallel: 1. “unweight left leg to turn left, unweight right leg to turn right” New inside leg is your leading leg, unweight it, and the outside ski is going to turn you to where the inside ski’s direction. 2. “Focus on Inside little toe then outside big toe” the entire movement chain is started from feet to knees to legs then hips, focusing on tipping inside little toes to drive the chain 3. “Stand between your shoulders, then between your hips” easier for weight transition, more cautious on keeping the skis parallel

This is the only video on KZbin that allowed parallel turning to “click” for me. Incredible teaching!

Love your explanation, I use these regularly and I was happy to see in your written portion you clarified to twist the leg from the thigh to point the knees the same direction (might want to say it also). Many people try to turn with their knees instead of their femur and end up with knees pointed further then their toes (not aligned) and tush/rear ends up over their heels (not desired)

Yes exactly, then they get all twisted and it doesn’t feel very strong. Thank you for your comment.

Tip 3 is think for me the best. Sometimes I forget to look downhill or get my body well in a turn. I have learned skiing at a roller belt inside (i'm from the Netherlands). Can you make a video about managing the speed control in the turns with slipping (roetsjen in Dutch)? And maybe a video about weight transfer of you want to jump? Also a video about an emergency stop would be great?

Hi. Thank you for the comment. I appreciate it. Here is a link to a video on how to stop: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3vPfJWOpLmdo5Isi=wJTLxOQtJH8HjCwW I will make the other videos for you 👍🏻

@@skicoachingonline Thx a lot in advance. I also have some problems to go from flat to edging the skies. Maybe it's because of to low confidence. Can you here also make video from? Last year was my first season in the snow. First i had lessons (6) at the roller belt inside nearby and in Les Menuires (Saint Martin Belleville was the exact place) i had 6 lessons in the morning. The coming season we will go to Ischgl. I'm looking forward to see the different of a France ski area with an Austria/Swiss one.

As always, nice and clear. As for a suggestion, maybe a bit left-field but how about: 1) learning to enjoy and live with higher speed and 2) safely going down a narrow ‘road’ such as you get between slopes - often these come with a drop at one side and it can feel that there’s not enough space/width to turn as I’d ike. If I was coming for a lesson, those are the two things I’d like to crack. Thanks!

Thank you. I will do one on skiing safer and feeling more comfortable with higher speeds. And here is a link to one about skiing narrower slopes. kzbin.info/www/bejne/faPEZYtjqK2Zesksi=c2_oTwbjeC_MPI60 Thank you for your comment. 😀

3rd tip is something I keep workings on, but I struggle to get my skis closer and so always have a wide stance. What tips for an older skier with this issue? Any tips will be put into practice in a few weeks time. Thanks. Enjoyed your tutorial greatly.

Hey, here is a collection of tips which might help you, number one is about getting to skis a natural width apart. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqXEp4CcaJJ6l6s Thank you for your comment. Where are you skiing in a few weeks time? 😀

@@skicoachingonline Thank you for taking your time to reply. Usually when on the turns with aroud 20-40km/h speed (so nothing special). More often then now in the powder and on the steeper slopes.

@@skicoachingonline haha I think liampanitz4683 was joking. Your video is called "how to turn on skis", so he's wondering how he can turn them off when he's done with them, like turning a light on and off.
