Very good Tips! Just one remark regarding the video: it‘s almost impossible to listen what you are saying and reading through the text on the screen at the same time. At least I can only concentrate on one or the other. :)

Should my ankle lead the ski to move or the legs? I did my first lesson of skiing. I enjoyed it. My issues were the instructor were not that good at communicating or not clear on the instructions. For the 2hrs of lesson, he didn’t mentioned how we should turn to left or right. He just “follow me and watch me” he just holds on to his knees without telling us whats the purpose and how to turn. I ask hin if we should put pressure on the what legs that will lead us to turn. But overall, it was a good experience. We are planning to go again on february. Luckily, my son got a different instructor and he learns so fast with minimal falls. Lol

Hey, what tips would you give for when I turn and have a bit of a slide, and sometimes my downhill ski that my weight is on slips and isn’t able to get the grip. I am unsure if I should look at upgrading my skis (rentals), or if I should focus on anything in specific. Thanks! :)

When you demonstrated going wider, your tips moved apart as much as your feet. The extra edge engagement is what made you stop, not making a wider triangle as you are tying to explain. This is the part where a beginning skier leans backward and looses directional control. Instead of a focus on rotating the skis into a pizza shape, tip the skis on edge while spreading your feet and feel how the edge drag twists your skis, boots and feet inward.

Thank you for this video. Today I went skiing for my first time in Virginia, United States. I had gotten a group lesson, and I was leading my group surprisingly for a first timer and was feeling very confident. I proceeded to do a green with my friends but I just sped up way to much even though i was doing a snowplough. I ended up nailing a fence, and wiped out. Any tips for turning better? I have been taught to lean on the ski opposite of the direction I want to go, but my back ski just does it own thing. I don’t know what to do, and was hoping you could help. Thank you for this video.

If you are a beginner skier, you need to learn how to hockey stop and side slip. I recommend learning these skills on very short skis. You should not be skiing fast if you don't already know how to ski.

Went to steep slope just like how its described, my inner ski got stuck in snow could not get it flattened resulting in wider wedge. Therefore, i could not turn. But it did save me from falling. Very important point made in this video to do side slips and go on edge as needed to come down with control speed.

Dear Sir, it's not to much edge. It is an absence of ankle flex. A straight ankle is the issue you are realy addressing. Go back to sharing what 'you' are realy feeling. You are close.
@skicoachingonline
@skicoachingonline 27 күн бұрын
Because of the boot and the binding. The boot will always be perpendicular to ski. Just bending the ankle isn’t the correct plane for edging the ski. To edge or not edge the ski, the ankle and feet knee to roll sideways.
@WilliamdeVanney-i1m
@WilliamdeVanney-i1m 27 күн бұрын
Dear Sir, please do consider, if there is no ankle flex - there can be no use of the forefoot (instep/ball of foot/big toe). The knee must remain in line with the hip & foot to maintain correct knee joint alighnment. Bracing the foot to direct the load from the body - can only be achieved with knee over toe. (ANKLE FLEX). You cannot 'tip' the knee. You can angulate at the hip...

also i learnt after having a very weak snowplough is that due to my feet's high arch i wasnt pressing on my heels and instead putting pressure on front foot. Breaking comes almost back of the the skis than from front. Also being heavy( 94kg and 192 cm ) and tall will make it so much more harder to do snowplough so after resonable attempt just go parallel and perfect the advanced stops

Hey I've been binging your stuff to get ready for the ski season and I was wondering, what are some tips to make sure your stance is perfect? Last time I went I was more bent over then bent knees if that makes sense
@skicoachingonline
@skicoachingonline Ай бұрын
Hey. Thanks that’s great to hear. I’m glad it’s helping. With the stance thing. Do a couple of jumps and if you can get the tip and the tail of the ski off the ground the same amount at the same time. Then your in the middle of the ski 👌🏻
