First time powder.. have to be patient. Powder will reveal any weaknesses in your skiing form. Have to keep your weight off the back of the skis. The tendency is to sit back to let the tips float but makes it impossible to turn. Had my wife in powder last week first time and the best thing for her was a gentle grade where she felt confident and could keep her speed up. You have to be able to blast through it with some pace or the turns are simply exhausting and it's not fun. These tips are great and this guy really breaks things down, gives great advice.

NOW we're talking this is what I'm ALL about, powder & trees & steeps! OMG what fun, awesome Shifty's in the pow that's really impressive Jens I haven't seen that yet out in Tahoe! I like the shorter turns in the trees-it's kinda necessary! Then arching it out when things open up is really fun. I did my first narrow rock chutes at Squaw Valley this last spring (in powder & corn), I learned real quick you get shot out like a rocket at the bottom where the snow packs down. Be ready for that back-seater alright! Sure gets me charged up for winter, even in the midst of being in full-on mtn biking SEND IT mode now. No BS, the Pop helps with bike jumping too! Great video very envious of your ski mtn, thanks!

Great tips. Was skiing powder last week and finally was able to just go right through it, mostly due to having the confidence to keep the speed up. Can't stress enough just how important it is to blast right through it. Truly excellent point about the pole plants- too many skiers do not understand what the purpose of the pole plant is and where to place it. Fantastic series and one that I have recommended to fellow skiers. Thank you.

@@lincolnpeart5093 oh when did I say that? There's many people who can spin 3s and croks out of deep pow and I find that really difficult because the snow catches you sometimes. The FWT is an example for when you really need this skill. What exactly is your point? To always build a takeoff evertime you want to drop something 😂

I just waisted a week and a half in Japan on the wrong skies. What's the right and wrong skies for powder?
@jessesimecek78354 жыл бұрын
I ski powder on Redster G9 race stocks, it’s all about knowing how you position should be. On race skis or slope skis, stay in the middle of the ski, whole footbed pushing down on your skiboot. When skiing on those wide off piste free ride type of skis you can be forward because those will stay floating on the snow so to say. If you lean forward on slope/race skis the tips will bury themselves into the snow and you’ll make a beautiful little faceplant :)
@Hotwire_RCTrix4 жыл бұрын
@@jessesimecek7835 I ate a lot of snow. On the very last day I hired some K2 Mind benders 108 and had much better experience but I don't know if they were the best choice for bottomless powder. This is why I posted this question.
@jessesimecek78354 жыл бұрын
Hotwire they should be fine tbh, I’m not an expert on that part though. I only have race skis but I enjoy powder when it’s there. Google can help you out I guess. I like the challenge of going powder with race carvers though :)
@dlevi674 жыл бұрын
@@jessesimecek7835 Light, fluffy "champagne" powder on carving skis I can deal with - in fact I really enjoy it. When it gets heavy(ier), though, I'd rather have 90-100 mm underfoot: race skis get too sensitive to fore/aft movements (in the way you described above) for my liking.
