A friend of mine swapped her timeshare in Miami for one in Beaver Creek over Christmas and I drove out from Iowa to meet up with her. We both had Epic Passes, so we were able to ski both resorts during our week stay. Beaver is definitely smaller, a little cheaper, a little more remote, and the staff are extremely friendly. Plus, if you come off the slopes at the right time, they have free, warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookies! The car wasn't required (but did come in handy) as there are shuttle buses you can take between Beaver Creek and Vail for $14/person round trip ($7/person one-way). Depending on the number of people you have, that may be a less expensive option than renting a car and paying for parking at Vail, which is about $30/day for skiing. None of these resorts are cheap when it comes to concessions. Definitely recommend packing some sandwiches/snacks in your backpack/pockets. Water is available for free at nearly all the slopeside restaurants at each resort (Vail, Beaver, Breck, & Keystone).

Vail has a third base village called Golden Peak. Less hotel beds at the base making it less busy and it’s chair 6 allows for quicker access to the back bowls. It is also home to vails terrain park.
@justinfradkin52045 жыл бұрын
Bryan Corbellini the only issue with golden peak is that it’s by far the most expensive. The hotels include The 4 seasons, the sonenelp, and the Sebastian. (don’t get me wrong tho it’s all expensive)
@MrXmauro4 жыл бұрын
J Frad actually, you are incorrect. The hotels you mentioned are in Vail Village. Hotels that directly access Golden Peak are Manor Vail and Tivoli as well as many condos.
@justinfradkin52044 жыл бұрын
@@MrXmauro sorry my bad, I worded this wrong. these hotels are closer to golden peak though than many of the main Vail Village hotels like The Lodge (which is almost ski in ski out) Also forget the one but its the one with the big skating rink, the arrabelle maybe? Im taking a greyhound from denver to frisco instead of renting a car or the expensive shuttle buses. Also to avoid the expensive lodging cost at vail, we are sleeping in frisco. Taking a Bustang to vail. Its risky with not knowing weather conditions and a little inconvenient but its saving us tons of money.

Went to Vail 6-7 years ago. My best tip is to be friend with a local. If they work for the resort you get 50% off the ski pass.. 😂 Great skiing in the back bowls and a day trip to Beaver Creek is also recommended (same ski pass).

Went to Vail to do the Apres Ski thing for Valentines Day weekend. It was fun. Stayed in Avon which is about 25 minutes from Vail by local bus. The bus day pass was $8. The shuttle from Denver Airport was $75 each way with drop Off service to my hotel in Avon. All in all, the 3 day 2 night stay was about $1,000. The weather was great- very crisp and clear. I’ve already booked a return trip for the fall Season 💕

Just got back from a fantastic week at Vail! We saved some money by booking a condo with AirBNB 9 months in advance and sharing the cost with another family. For dining at reasonable prices, go to Moe's BBQ or Garfinkle's. There are two grocery stores in West Vail to pick up stuff (at normal prices) for breakfast and dinners at the condo.

As a local vail has great variety. It has plenty of cliffs which I like and good terrain elsewhere for everyone. The one thing it doesnt have is hikeable peaks like breck. Good to practice freeride since it is steep and rocky. But vail is my favorite.

If your budget allows for a car or rental car, here is a great idea. Book a hotel in nearby Leadville. Find it on the map. In any case, Leadville to Vail via Fremont Pass (Rt#91) = 24 miles and Vail Pass (I-70) = 26 miles or so. Total one way should not exceed 55 miles. The thing is, you must pass Copper Mt. on this route. Copper is a damn good hill as well. Ski hard & mind your head!

@@brianfinneran8919 copper is ignored by the haughty, snooty. smaller than Vail but great terrain, and less time traversing. just ski, lift, repeat.

@rj5213 жыл бұрын
I’ve skied Vail since the 70s and I have never been told to ski no more than 20 mph. Maybe if you are on a crowded frontside green or blue run full of housewives from Cleveland or Houston. If you ski any of the runs in the bowls or back in Blue Sky Basin that are not packed with people (They usually are not) I think you are fine skiing as fast as you want as long as you are in control. (Control is the key word for newbie skiers or yearly warriors who overestimate their skills).
